    Screwing in blown edge?

I have a friend with a significantly destroyed 4front edge... Ripped out about an inch from the base and delamed maybe 7 inches down the ski. Being that I am the one who works in a shop, I have been asked to make it so it at least lasts him the season. I remember reading something about screwing in an edge and then repairing the ptex over it. This definatly will not stay with just epoxy. Anyone have any ideas? And if it involves using an edge tack/screw, where is the best place to get some?

    Ace is the place.

    1. Find your shortest brass screws possible (flathead).
    2. Get your self a Dremel or a bit that can be attached to your drill for grinding the head down.
    3. Clamp the edge back in place.
    4. Drill with a smaller width drill bit (relative to screws) for starter holes.
    5. Ensure that the screw is not going to penetrate through the top sheet.
    6. Screw the screw.
    7. "Dremel" of any part of the top of the screw that will stick above the base.
    8. Fill with epoxy.
    9. Let'er set up and file'r down
    10. Open a cold one and admire your Ghetto-tacular edge work

I did it to a pair of Xscreams about 6 years back. I pulled out several inches of an edge. I picked up some small short screws at Home Depot. It has been a while now, so I can't remember what their real purpose was. But, if you look around in the screw department, you'll find what you need. I used a vice to squeeze the edge back into place and predrilled holes. Then screwed in the short screws and ptexed over. I can't remember if I used epoxy in the process or a glue; but I did use something. I got another season and a half before the edge gave out again. At which point, I then purchased new sticks. I recently used JB weld on some delam issues. I haven't put enough days on the skis to really see the long term hold; but, they have held up fine after a few good hard days. Maybe someone else knows the long term durability of JB weld on a ski?

I work at a shop, if the core is still intact you can screw a new edge. you'll have to cut the old edge so that it is a clean 90 degrees. the place were we get our supplies is through SVST. if the core is gone, your friend has a new rock ski. but you can use JB weld to make a kinda edge. it holds well and you can even put an angle to it with a file. I did it to my mantras, i lost edge and the core for about four inches, the JB weld works.
