    Jill Fredston SLC lectures

For those who haven't noticed on the UAC site:

Allison Gannet is also speaking at, uh..."skintrack church", heh on Saturday night with/before/after (whatever it is) Jill Fredston. Both presentations sound pretty awesome.

    here's the blurbs:
Alison's Gannett's Global Cooling Adventure Show is a multi media presentation. Share in Alison's ski adventure film clips from around the world – India, Bhutan, Alaska, France, and South Africa. Learn how this World Champion Extreme skier devotes much of her life to making this world a better place. Along with her inspirational adventures, learn about her Global Cooling Tour, and how you can calculate your carbon emissions, decrease and offset your carbon footprint - all while saving money in your home or business.

Jill Fredston, Author of Snowstruck, Slide show and Talk
Having spent decades trying to keep avalanches and people apart, Jill Fredston brings them together unforgettably in her new book, Snowstruck: In the Grip of Avalanches. She brings to life the forces of nature that can turn the mountains deadly—and the equally inexorable forces of human nature that lure us time and again into treacherous terrain. Fredston, one of North America's leading avalanche experts, is co-author of the well-known Snow Sense: A Guide to Evaluating Snow Avalanche Hazard and winner of the 2002 National Outdoor Book Award for Rowing to Latitude: Journeys along the Arctic's Edge. An impressive speaker, she will give a slide show and talk at OLS.

Jill is a great speaker and probably knows more about avies than anyone with the exception of her husband.

On a side note, her book Snowstruck is a very good read as is her book about called "Rowing to Latitude" or something like that about her rowing expeditions around the globe.

    PM sent re: meet-up.

I think I'll start a thread in the "main" forum, perhaps generate a bit more visibility.
