    photogs - hoody

    what's the deal w/ lens hoods? some are small and seem like they wouldn't do much and others look like you could huck the lens and the thing would fly around.

    im assuming some are better for bright sunlight? would that stye work for most applications.

    most lenses have a hood spec'd by the manufacturer for them - if you have a crop factor camera (if you paid enough to have a full fram digi SLR you probably wouldn't be asking this question) you have more mobility with hoods because a non-spec hood is less likely to vignette on you. Yes, they are great for reducing glare.
