Igneous Rock photos in this months Powder

Mike Tierney has once again proven that he's one of the best 'under the radar' skiers out there. Talk about falling equals serious issues lines, in the last two issues of Powder, his segments are jaw dropping. His line in the Powder Annual was head shaking ridicules and now Igneous Rock off Cody Peak this month. How big is the exit air? Looks like a good 80+ and that first face is the face that Steve Koch ski/ based jumped off of last year – correct?

Mike sent them to me after he did the line....do you know how bad I wanted to post those? Yep, that bad.

I don't know who took them...I guess I could look at the powder mag, but you know what I mean, I didn't take them so I wouldn't want to piss anyone off.

I believe it was also filmed and will be in an up coming movie. I watched him ski that line last year on closing day.

    Isn't that line in Respect?
I think that the human mind is unique among all other forms of life in that it can spontaneously create unique thoughts and provide unique behaviors. Instead of rewarding that uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity.

I believe Stephen Koch pulled off the first (snowboard?) decent of igneous rocks, but rappelled into the adjacent couloir rather than hucking it like Tierney did.

I think that line might be in Trail and Air - this year's Stormshow movie. It's well worth checking out, although the only place i've ever seen it for sale is the liquor store attached to Albertson's in Jackson.

Its in Respect too, but they edit it really quick, so its hard to really appreciate the line. I'll send an email to Mike to see if I can post them just to be safe.

Stephen's line was skiers left of this face, called talk is cheap. He rappelled into Central and aired that out of it. Roner is the one who ski based it first, although someone else ski based it in Trial and Air a week or two after Roner did it.

If you really want to see it get Stormshows new movie as suggested "Trial and Air". Pretty sick movie with quite a bit of Tierney footage this year. Funny intro, great JH skiing, creaitve angles and editing. To get around the high cost of shooting overhead footage from a heli, they shot alot from filmers in paragliders above the action.
Pretty crazy to see a line being ripped by a skier with legs and feet of the filmer in the foreground.
