    Manually measuring boot sole length

My boots don't print the boot sole length anywhere. I remember talking to someone in a shop about that and apparently the year and model of my boots are known for this (Nordica Grand Prix, 8-10 years old).

If I measure along the boot bottom, in the middle, from the edge of the plastic on the toe to the heal will I get the correct value which I can compare to someone else's printed value?

measure from the very tip that sticks out to the end that sticks out to get in the toe and heelpiece oif the binding. Make sure you are taking a flat measurement. If you do it correctly, it will be more accurate than a printed value if your boot is used. Boot wear can mean several millimeters of difference between printed and actual value, enough to change mounting parameters and binding settings in many circumstances.

If you don't want to bother, any halfway decent shop should be willing to measure your boot for you.

Printed value doesn't always equal actual value. The shop I worked at in college always checked the sole length with a tape measure.

Yep! We always check the boot length on every setup using a cool measuring thingy that Salomon gave us.
