FWIW Most folks I know on the south end (San Juans) use ABQ instead of DIA.
I'd try to hook up for WC &/or Silverton's leg if possible.
Big bizzump!
Brett, can we do this? Leave Saturday afternoon, ski sunday and monday and drive back mon night. I have to be here Tuesday for training...
Mmmmm, Taos. How much is open?

Go to Calgary and ski with the AB/BC mags. They're having a banner year.
One of the cool things about the electronic age is that we can delay our responses, don't you think? Once upon a time, when the world was a more civilised place (before the telephone) people corresponded quite often in writing. It allowed a body to cogitate. Brett and I don't pester each other all the time like some couples and I attribute at least part of the the success of our relationship to the fact that we aren't calling each other with every random passing thought. The rest is my good looks and charm and his big weenie.
Thanks for asking.![]()

I guess this video shot 2 days ago makes it pretty clear that the ridge is open..
roo - if you and brownmonkey came - I would be happy to show you around Whistler
In all honesty, the conditions in Colorado kinda suck right now. I'm an optimist too. The last major snowstorm was over a week ago and only favored Aspen, parts of Eagle County, WC, and localized spots in the San Juans. Lot's of wind followed and has hammered everything above treeline. The coverage overall is not really where it should be for this time of year either. Too many front range storms, not enough high mountain dumps.
The 3-5" dusting that is coming tonight will probably be the last bit of moisture we see for the next week. It's January. We always go through a long dry spell in the middle of January.
If you are looking for deep coverage and want a better chance at hitting some big storm cycles, then head up to the PNW or Canada.
Have fun.
Kicking Horse... get to it before it (ever) gets discovered, and its doing very good this year. Kindof the best of both worlds, good snow, and not very much crowds.
Suweet!
Taos talks are underway. Honestly, that mountain is so fine that I would be happy to ski it even if it's not neck deep. Like Crested Butte. Just want all that Kachina Peak stuff to be open.
And I've been skiiing powder every Sunday like clockwork, so it ain't all bad around here.![]()

TSV was awesome today. Storm total 12"-14" and still snowing when we left today. The bulk of it fell after closing saturday, and today was bluebird for about three hours, before another (minor) storm started unleashing around lunch time.
West Basin still not open, although rumors that it will open to 5th tomorrow were floating around. Treskow is open, and is the goods. Highline is closed past Twin Trees, hence Kachina Peak is not open, as of today.
have fun
KLM is dragging its heels issuing our refund vouchers so it doesn't look like we'll be on the plane Saturday. Gits.
If you come the following weekend, we have room on our cat trip in the San Juans.
Fighting leads to killing, and killing gets to warring. And that was damn near the death of us all.
gat, gits!
eat mah grits!

They said they were issuing an MCO (?) and that it had to be bounced up to head office and then back to us and that it would take a couple of weeks. They said all this in comedy Goldmember accents which helped ease the angst of blown travel arrangements.
On the plus side, it was snowing this morning when I stepped outside.
Taos is definitley worth a visit. I could ski with you Tuesday/Wednesday if you head that direction.
Salt Lake for sure. Snowbird's boasting a 54" base, we've had high pressure in for 10 years, and the wind/sun/mcnasty crust is off the hook. I really think you'd regret not coming out here right now, and just don't want to deal with the lifelong guilt that would plague my soul for not sharing such infectious stoke...
