TR CH - Saas-Fee: Scenics, no action

Request came in to put something up with white in it.
Here goes for the Friday cube-slaves.

    Saas-Fee's glaciers, northern aspect, and deep valley provided everything;
great snow quality on the pistes, fresh powder was 4th buckle high, chalk, bone-rattling wind-rip'd & breakable crust.
edit: Photos taken Jan 7. My last ski day.
Been using hiking boots since then.

Dom ridgeline w/ early morning vapor "caps".

The valley's south-face aspects provide rock climber's heaven.

Hike up above top station. Glacier wall about 4-5 stories high.

A small ice wall. ~ 2 stories high

Late afternoon view of Dom ridgeline.

Being solo, I did not hike up to Allalinhorn summit.
Descended on chalk, sugar, and wind-rip'd.
    Looking across crevasses to teleski.

    Allalinhorn in after-glow.

I was just gonna post that, I foresee another POTD @ Biglines... But it seems like you already did that.

    Nice, litt.

Oh and hope you've gotten used to those Hagans already

yes, i remember u saying it was on your to-do list. meteo always the key factor.

if u r interested i would like to do it in mid-April - May. hike up from village to summit ~ 6 hrs. w/ cafe stop at Morenia.

An alternative would be to take lifts to top station and summit Allalinhorn and Stralhorn same day. Both over 4000m.

used NX21's & Hagans for the entire 3 ski day trip.
Piste, pow, ice, dust & chalk. Exclent!

NX21's as stable as Alpine bindings w/o weight.

Only drawback was using those light-weight Hagans on wind-rip'd crust; Bone-rattling ride w/o much control.
A heavier ski w/ alpine binding may have provided more stability.

    later!
