Hmmm ... tricksy, it is ... it adjusts the Earth's orbit outwards as the Sun grows hotter and larger?

Then finally kicks the Earth into deep space, where the oceans freeze in a million years, and then a few cockroaches survive in fissures reaching deep into the core ...

    No deal.

    Seriously.

    A "few hundred"? yes.

    A "few thousand"? Probably not.

Ultimately, I doubt there is much we can do about it. It's just the evolution of things.

We are in complete agreement. All things have their run, and we very well may begin to understand the length of our run on earth as humans long before it is over...unlike all of the other animals who simply experienced their demise unwittingly.
Does that improve, or degrade, our situation?

I have no idea...but it DOES give us an opportunity to change, unlike the other unwitting victims.

And to not act upon the information we are being given would be a sin, IMO.

Stop that. Stop it right now. Ignorance is bliss and it's cruel to try to show people that what they believe with the core of their being is wrong.

I won't believe in global warming until there is a radical 80 degrees fahrenheit increase in daily temperatures for the next 2 years. If that doesn't happen then I consider it rock solid proof that global warming is a myth perpetuated by loony treehuggers who just want to stop the wheels of economic progress.

    (1) That's because you're a fake skeptic who thinks he's showing some kind of intellectual depth and maturity by doubting that humans can effect any kind of change in their environment.

    (2) Verily, there are multitudes of ignorant fucks in America, and a large number of them are aligned with one major party or the other. In fact, alignment with either major party is a prime indicator of ignorance and naivete and willful blindness to reality.

    (3) That's because your friends are ignorant fucks. NOAA employs a lot of ignorant fucks. And "the environmental sciences", what exactly are they, Mr Genius?

Wow. I guess it is good to be passionate about something. Just don't mail me a bomb dude. I believe, I believe.

Humans can affect their environment, and have. So let's stop fucking, get birthcontrol to 90% of the population, NOT give a shit about Aids, Cigarettes, Skin Cancer, or anything else that thins the herd. Human overpopulation is the biggest problem this planet faces. Yet, we try to keep every one alive forever. THAT is the biggest problem today.

Let me guess, you watched Al Gore's movie too, and now you are an expert?

    Edit-

Just to clear this up, cause it really pisses me off. Where do you get off being such a pole smoker? I guess I somehow offended you, but Jesus- chill the fuck out.
It is shit like that that just wants to make me tune out anyone that passionate about this shit. Most of them are complete, fly off the handle at any disagreement to their point of view, freaks. Unfortunately, the rational, intelligent ones are drowned out to a whisper by people as ridiculous as you. Grow up. People have different opinions. Don't conduct yourself like a 5 year old that can't get the piece of candy they want. Not everyone is gonna agree with you, and "gasp" they will sometimes be right.

I watched the movie. I believe a lot of it. I think we should try to do something instead of sitting by hoping for it to be a "myth".

You make good points with regard to there needing to be attention paid to birthcontrol, AIDs, Cigs, multiple forms of Cancer. All should be given due attention. I think the difference with Global Warming is that it effects everyone while the other "global" issues you have mentioned only effect portions of the populus.

Actually, I said we should NOT pay attention to Aids, cigarettes, drugs, bicycle helmets, sun block, seatbelts, etc. These all effectively thin the herd. If we aren't gonna stop humping, then we have to kill some people off. That is the only answer. This place is too crowded.

Nature has "survival of the fittest". We try to save everyone at the expense of ourselves. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Good for you. When you understand instead of believing, let us know. That would be a significant step toward humanity and maturity. Thanks!

Oh, and the "bomb" issue you raise? Nice! I see that your best reply is to try to paint your debate adversary with the color of insanity. What that tells most intelligent observers of a debate is that you have no strong position, no logical or rational support. Typical fucktard!

I haven't argued anything about longevity and artificial life extension. Why are you raising this issue? In any case, I agree that people fear death and aging and imperfection. Some even use that fear to turn their mind off when bad news comes their way.

Actually, I don't like Al Gore one bit and I have not watched his movie. But please keep guessing incorrectly. It just makes you look more like the fucktard I originally sussed you as.

Your latent homosexuality makes you project your fantasies regarding fellatio, huh? Sorry to tell you that I don't swing that way, Brucie. But please enjoy your KY jelly fiestas. I wouldn't want to pass judgment on your preferences in the sack.

    More projection.

I have some advice for you, fucktard. Here it is.

Just because you proclaim something and believe it to be true and try to persuade others that it is true, doesn't mean you're correct nor does it mean that there's any truth in your argument.

And actually I don't mind being called a "5 year old" because children of that age are more inquisitive and don't just close their minds because of their political leanings. Unlike some people in this thread. Hint hint.

PS: I'm really sorry about my dyslexic substitution of "fucktard" for "warthog." Somehow they just seem so damned synonymous and fungible.

Well, I guess you told me.

Still not sure what you are so angry about. I never stated that my opinion is the only one that counts, but apparently yours is. Congratulations.

Since you seem to know so much about debate, is it good to go straight to Fucktard, or should I wait a bit. It seems a bit harsh to go right for the name calling, but hey- it seems to really get your point across in a non-threatening way. I guess I have a lot to learn about debate. Thanks for the lesson.

does the number one threat to all of humanity negate the reality of the scientific community allocating their resources towards the potential comprehension (and mitigation) of this changing climatological reality make that resource transfer invalid?

An intelligent being, who cares about the potential future of the human race, regardless of the outcome of (said) research would argue no.

This is the fight of our species future, IMO. whether correct or incorrect, to not throw all available research and intelligence at the prospect of global climate change would be a fools laziness....regardless of the eventual outcome.
Better to be proved right than wrong, if a gamble is to be wagered, don't you agree?

To not engage in the scientific discourse would be to throw double down, blind.

And that is no way to gamble on our race's future.
