MTaylor, do you really want me to post that video of you on Fuez bowl here for all to see? Unless you want to haul your sorry little ass over to gapicski, I would suggest stopping the instructor bashing, letting more experienced mags take the brunt.

Congrats on wanting to become an instructor. Paraphrasing what Mtaylor said, you will take a lot of heat on these boards, but I think it is a great idea. Try not to spend all your time on skis for teaching, I prefer to use the skills that I have learned from instructor courses and from teaching other kids and bring those out into the powder. It is kind of reassuring knowing that you will be mostly in balance for that steep chute you are about to do.

Don't do it. Instructing is the worst job in the world.

If you want miss out on a lot of powder days be an instructor - it all depends on what your goals are. Instructing you will get a much better idea of what good technique is but you wont have the opportunity to put it into practice as you will spend most of your time doing snowplough.

Do the course to get the knowledge, but then go and be a ski bum - work at night and ski during the day.

I say this from experience, having been an instructor and a skibum, I will never instruct again.

I do it, and I love it. Don't do it for the free pass. Do do it if you enjoy sharing your passion and working with people.

What you will probably learn in your class is a basic beginner progression. This will let you teach a new beginner how to use a wedge for slowing down and turning.

the lessons i teach arent day long though its a weekend part time job and i might teach 2 or 3 30 minute lessons and then maybe do and hour of courtesy patrol then i can do whatever i want. i think its a good deal since im about to be 15 and i dont have to do that much

    Fixed it for you.

Seriously though, it's not for everyone and you have to pay your dues to get to that point.
