bwah, good point, irul, good point last time i flew home for a big game, it was the for the Cubs NL Championship series, and, ummm, yeah, you guessed it, I was at the "Bartman game"....so maybe i am bad luck.

I will watch in Jackson and root my boys on to victory! Frankly, I don't care if we win it all, I just want to see Chicago get to the big game for so many reasons...

YOU BETTER WANT US TO WIN IT ALL. I was there for the White Sox World Series, and it was the shit. I went to every homegame but 2 in the playoffs, and it was electric man. The parade was unreal and i just ditched work to go to it. It was insane. Maybe only because Daley is a HUGE Sox fan, but that parade shut down the city. Confetti raining from the 20th floor of buildings, people climbing on to the L tracks, people smiling everywhere, and just overall elation. Even though the speakers didnt work to well and you couldnt hear anything, it was one of the greatest moments of my life. I was there when the Bears won, but I was only 5. This is definately a football town, so I can only imagine how insane another Superbowl victory would be. We were spoiled with the Bulls, and those celbrations in Grant Park were okay, but the Bears would just be crazy. If and when we do win the Bowl, I will camping outside Ditka's with some Cohebas and champagne.

and a sidenote, i lived on Dakin and Sheffield (1/2 block from Wrigley)for the Cubs last 2 seasons, and it was glorious. Very proudly hanging the Sox flag out the window.

but, back to the point, THE BEARS SUPERBOWL WOULD BE INSANE IN CHICAGO.

    Bears Suck!

They are maybe the 7th best team if they are in the AFC.
Saints are going to make the bears look like the cubs!
I like it deep and wet!

As a former Chicago resident and avid Bears fan I fully appreciate your enthusiasm towards the Bears. However, as a Sox fan why would you choose to live by Wrigley? Get down to Bridgeport where you belong and show some true support for the WhiteSux!

my buddies just moved to Pilsen this year, and i hangout by uic on halsted. my dad grew up in beverly and i go to the southside parade every year, but nothing is really close to those areas. all the jobs i work, and all the friends i had were in that area (Lakeview). besides, watching the demise of the cubs from up close and personal was pretty flucking sweet. i love how it went from In Dusty We Trusty to Get the Fukc Out Dusty. corey patterson was on eof my fav's too. no worries anymore though, i moved to colorado and now austria.

sidenote - two bears coaches kids were in my classes in gradeschool. the tobin's and the landry's. used to hangout with all the players at Bally's when i was little and with those kids.

I hear you. Plus the chicas in Wrigleyville are far superior to other portions of the city. Just giving you some shit. Several of my friends are Sox fans and live in Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park, Lincoln Square, etc. Its fairly standard as the Southside in general isn't quite as nice as the Northside. Although Pilsen is pretty sic IMO.

Trader Todds....definitely been there. I like when he's outside standing with the Ogre mobile trying to get peopel to go to his bar. good times indeed. That place actually has some pretty nice drink specials after games.

we are going to win on sunday. i feel it.

and guys, i am old enough to remember the superbowl win in chicago: i was at the play-off games in 85 (plus the monday nigt game when the Fridge scored against the Pack), and skipped school to go downtown for the ticker tape parade...it was awesome!

    Please pray with me:

    Our Papa

    Who art a Bear

    Hallowed be thy fame

    Thy championship come,

    Thy play be run,

At home as it is away,

Give us this day our Sunday win,

    And forgive us our turnovers,

Though we pounce on those who turnover against us,

And lead us not into fourth and long,

    But deliver us from Krenzel.

In the name of Ditka, Butkus and the Holy Payton. As it was in '85 so shall it be in 2007, reign without end.

    Da Men.

Just think... if the city did that for the red headed bastard child known as the white sox... **IF** the cubs ever won an important game what it would be like... your little parade would seem like it was put on by amature...

i disagree, Daley wouldnt let the city be shut down like he did when the Sox won. all the bandwagon Cubs fans were bandwagoning for the Sox anyways, so there wouldnt be that many more people, if Daley even let it happen. it would probably be secluded to the NorthSide anyways. im guessing he wouldnt let it be throught the middle of the loop. for the Bulls it wasnt even allowed. maybe another partially lame one in GGrant Park.
hey, i was 5 when the Bears won, my parents said i was at th parade, but i dont remember where it was. where was it?

The one thing that will insure a Bears victory is Smashmouth football. The Bears have to create fear in the Saints receivers like they did in most of the early games this season. The field should be messy and the threat of getting flattened by Bears DB's should cause alot of dropped balls.

you go to UofI? i went there for a year, talk about a shithole man. i lived on 4th and green for awhile and then again in the Parkland dorms. talk about the worst living situation ever, a dorm for a community college. that indoor gymnastics and climbing wall place was pretty sweet though, Vertical Limits i think..... which bar did you hang out at? Brothers? or one of the other zillion frat bars? IMPE's outdoor pool ruled though.

wait, that means you were there when the Bears played there? that season sucked. my girls sister was security, so we got in all the games for free. i dont think i saw a victory.

oh yeah, i was at the Bulls Jazz game when the Bulls clenched the title. Boo-yah, call me Stuart Scott

Cubs nation is huge and the city is predominately behind the Cubs. Hence the huge chip on most Whitesox fans shoulders. In all honesty would you even want the city to be behind the Sox the way they are for the Cubs? My experience with Whitesox fans is no. And there is nothing wrong with that. My friends that are Sox fans like pulling for the little guy and seeing the Sox more often than not beat up the Cubs in the interleague series and....puke in my mouth a bit....to have won a World Series before them.

If the Cubs win a World Series Chicago will shut down...might even explode. Shit, when the Bulls won their first championship of the Jordan era there were riots....and thats the Bulls.

God damn, I miss this conversation. My favorite thing about Cubs fans is that they are serious when speaking of this mythical victory parade. I think a first step might be to be a competitive team past father's day each year.

baby steps. plus I don't think I'm the only one that wants to see the Cubs hit the century mark.

Damnit! You're right! Hopefully this year they can contend for the Central division....especially since the Cards seem to have let most of their world series rotation go. The Cubs should at least be competitive through the first half and perhaps the second half assuming they don't have a guzzillion injuries again (D. Lee, Wood, Prior, etc.)

wait, I think you should take your next "Second coming of Roger Clemens" prospect and try to break the record for innings pitched by a rookie this time. That's been a bulletproof strategy lately.

Went to u of i .. graduated in may.. and yea the place may be kinda shitty but man i loved it there... where did you live on 4th and green? lived in that region most of my time there... the balcony that overlooked station with the miller light banner was mine.. then i lived behind gullys also... I went to brothers a bunch, also went to (shamed to admit this) Kams just as often...lol... no better place to go to meet some hot young chicks..

How many years did the sox go without a parade? I dont really think you can start calling people out when u win the series once every 80+ years... but then again, we are talking about white sox fans here.. not the brightest people in chicago...

that's just silly. The Sox have about 1/3 the attendance the Cubs do. I have absolutely no doubt the Sox faithful's baseball IQ is roughly 10 times the Cubs collective.

hey, quit cunting up this thread with your soy Cubs vs Sox smack. Let's save that shit for spring training

Can't we all get behind the Beloved for tomorrow's big game? Cubs and Sox fans rooting in harmony for the real Chicago team!!?? Whoever posted about the Bears needing to bring the wood to the Saints recievers and backs was spot-on. We need to intimidate by knocking some cats in the mouth when they cross the middle of the field, they will then be short-arming catches all day...that, and we need to run the ball down their fucking throats. Benson needs to step up, and Rex just needs to play solid football like last week - don't ty and be a hero and force shit...

Anyhoo, I just had a sweet day @ Jackson (Cosmic Colouir and Four Pines BC...$$), am drinking a PBR, about to go to the Silver Dollar to see a good band and get drunk, its snowing out (finally) and I am anticipating skiing some fresh snow tomorrow morning, followed by a 1PM date with the TV @ Sidewinders to watch THE BEARS KICK SOME FUCKING ASS! GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!
