How many days skiing can YOU squeeze into a year

    Here's your new target.
Leaving Golden on Saturday, I stopped to pick up a random skier on the side of the road. Turned out to be a patroller from the Lake (Redskea from p-mag, actually) who's on track to hit 300+ between April '03 and April'04.

    300? That is unbelievable.

How was KH? I'm there this Saturday if you are going to be back out there....
I went out there in search of experience. To taste, and to touch, and to feel as much as a man can, before he repents.

You picked up Mel. Good for you how long did she have to wait after I dropped her off there. I thought you were going to LL.

Ridiculous line of cars turned off at the Lake, so I kept heading west. I think it was a good choice, had a blast in Fuez - 7 laps in there, 2 were hikes up above the lift.
She didn't say how long she waited, but it was about 10 after 5 when I stopped.
    Where were you skiing?

Canuck, they need some snow - its starting to get a little rocky in the chutes and some big moguls forming down lower.

You know she hitched from Canmore to get down to Castle. Can't remember how long it took her , 7 hours or something.

I'm on day 79. I wanted to break 150 days on skis this year. Looks like I will end up just short of my goal unless I can come up with the cash to hit Argentina. I'm collecting beer/pop cans now

wow, I saw the topic header and I thought I'd chime in and say "about 300"

But then I see that it's already been done. That's awesome.

I may have even heard of this Mel person you're talking about. what a coincidence, eh?

That link is the new and improved version of the original TR. -- I just scanned in a couple of new photos. Now, someone make me feel good and bump it for me

    Uh, so much for subtlety.

Yes, that is the same Mel who I lived the last year with in New Zealand. (and her awesome dog, who passed the carda S&R avalanche dog exam yesterday)

I blame her for keeping me in New Zealand for a year and a half, instead of the four months that I originally planned on visitng.

How do you think she became a maggot??

BTW, this isn't her first endless winter. In the nine years that she's been a skier, she's already done one previous winter in Canada (at Red Mtn, where her collie is named after) and another season in Andorra, Europe. that's in addition to nine seasons skiing full time in NZ. Pretty cool, eh?

you know, things like this are amazing.

my mom's a financial planning agent, helping with investments. Always urging me to put money away for the future, work hard now, blah blah blah. And to a certain point, she's right, so I have my IRAs and mutual funds going.

but, at the same time, I've realized over the last year that working, while it does bring some money (and food to the table I guess, although for me it's provided w/ my job), it's pretty overrated. You want to know my definition of what riches are? It isn't heaps of money for you to use when you're 60, so you can buy your RV and blue blockers to go with your Depends...I think it's 300-day ski seasons, and surfing daily for 20 years straight. I haven't even crested 10 days this ski season. I'm going to be gone all march and into the first week of april, so hopefully I can still get some when I get back. But to be able to just ski, even once a month every month for a year or two straight....you can't put a price on that.

I'm a retard, and I'm totally screwed. Damn this skiing fetish!

Pretty cool that a maggot dropped her off and a half-hour later the next maggot down the road picked her up.

How many? Not enough, not enough... I've been lucky to ski between 3 and 5 times a week this year ([insert small prayer for my marriage to hold]) but the season's short in the PNW.

    What are you smoking?
I'd say Nov-July is not a short season.
It's always to short if you just ride lifts.
My record a couple yrs ago was 175 daze, in OR, WA and CA. And that took some commitment and no injurys. Day 50 so far w/ 4 months to go. Woohoo!

300 days on only 1 continent? Me thinks the southern hemisphere fits into that mix somewhere.

Second that. Mt Hood can run through summer on a good year.

OK, you guys are right, and I plan to ski every month this year so I guess that makes a long season (thanks Mt Rainier and Mt Adams). I was thinking of my 3 to 5 days a week season, which is only made possible thanks to lifts (the one time I went to skin before work I showed up at 4pm).

Speaking of July, I'm counting on another 4th of July at Mt Hood with the maggots!
