I'm gonna go with Alta on this one too. Probably 5 or 6 years back my mom got knocked out cold on the last run of the day. Nobody else saw it happen but we think somebody hit her( Her whole back right side was bruised badly) and left her were she fell. Some lady found her on the side of the run and got the patrol on the case right away. Good thing my dad had great health insurance because after about a $10,000 heli vac ride to the hospital and three days there bills were not cheap. The Alta patrol did a great job with her until they handed her off to the EMTs

lots of love for the bridger team, I'll give 'em mine too- sure have seen 'em in all facets of their duties to say the least...
always kewl to meet the visiting 'trollers (crystal, shralpntal, whistler, squaw, snowbird come to mind etcetc....) all I've met seem cut from the same cloth- that seems like a great bennie to the job, cool to get the reviews from our people who come back from the various exotic locations too...

...and sometimes... if you're really nice and have good timing.... the ridgewalk gets a lil lighter

My vote is for Copper. I had a memorable evening with one of their female trollers back in the day.

Moonlight Basin has a cute little blonde troller. Don't know if she still works there, but shes hot, and being a patroller just makes her that much hotter.

In other news, I saw a girl skiing today on 184 B Squads. That was sexy.

BB treated us very well as visiting patrollers, even had home made cookies at the top shack! Took our skis up the Poma, showed us some nice lines, and invited us to come back any time... I must take them up on that soon.

BB followed closely by Big Sky. When I was living in Bzone and skiing both, both were awesome at getting things going. Big Sky trollers would always let me and buddy in to things that were not open yet. I guess it helped my bud was good friens with them all.

I'll give a nod to Bridger as well, they always seemed friendly and on their game. Checking in one day before climbing the ridge we stopped in the shack to see if hidden was open. They said the rope was still up, but were on their way back up to open it, if we got there before the patrol, go ahead and go. Probably my most memorable run at Bridger.

I also have to give props to the home mountain, Crystal. Staff full of knowlegable people fully willing to share any info you are after. And they do an incredible job opening up terrain after a storm. The avy classes the patrol director puts on are great as well.

I had a pretty good experience with The Canyons ski patrol last year. One of the peeps I was riding with caught a toe edge on his snowboard at pretty high speed and face planted. He got up and on the lift and about 1/2 way up, told me he was going to pass out and fall off the lift. we held him on, the ski patrol was there in less than a minutes when we arrived at the top.

They checked him out and said he may have seriously injured his spleen. Called in life-flight and flew him off to the hospital in SLC. Good thing too because his impact split his spleen in half I've never heard of such an injury from a hard fall, but I'm glad that ski patrol knew enough about what they were doing to know that the injury was serious and to call in life flight.

Brighton on the other hand....

2nd on the Canyons ski patrol. When i hurt my eye earlier this year they were really professional while staying lighthearted

While I can't really dispute this...maybe keep in mind there are 2 maggots on their patrol. Don't confuse shitty patrols with a few shitty patrollers.

I'll throw my vote to Alta...I hear nothing but good things about those guys. I've hung with them a few times when they've helped on "sidecountry" rescues between Brighton and Alta...always professional.

-Was in bad accident in tiger bowl last march and the Gad 2 patrollers response time was instrumental in rescuing me. Took great care, tobaggoned me through the woods out of there and gave lots of feedback as to what possibly happened as I have no memory of what happened.

At Park City the weekends tend to be largely staffed by the part-timers. The saying is "If you get hurt on the weekend, just lie there quietly until Monday."

Maybe things have changed since I was more in the loop but somehow I doubt it.

Well, I'm a rookie working at northstar. I recognize that my job as a patroller is far different than at most of the resorts I like, those guys are in a different league. I can say that from the medical standpoint we are up there, or at least have to be. We run more calls than any resort in Tahoe, but only throw a case of bombs a year. There were a few deaths last year, but credit patrol with one save. I think that's what counts.

But my vote goes for snowbird/alta, I've wanted to do that job for years, I don't think it will happen, but I will always admire them.

Big Sky gets my vote. Had a pretty nasty ragdoll episode on Lone Peak. Not only was the first patroller to show up a woman, she was HOTT and helpful. The second one to show up helped me find my long board that was buried above the tip.

Same thing with a lot of patrols, mountains just can't afford to staff full-timers all weekend and the busy holidays. The funny thing is those part timers are trauma surgeons, er nurses, firefighter/paramedics, life flight crews, etc. I think I'd feel pretty confident in the abilities of most part timers.

Not Steamboat. Storm Peak broke down the other morning,

"As many as eight Ski Patrol crews worked different sections of Storm Peak Express to evacuate the 65 stranded skiers and snowboarders. The last riders were rescued a little more than three hours after the lift stopped operating."

That's pretty sad, it's a good thing the lift was not full.

You ever participate in a chair evac? You have any idea how dangerous it is? How much care has to be taken to ensure the safety of the guests? 65 people probably equates to anywhere between 17 - 30 chairs depending on how full the lift was. I would say 3 hours is not a bad time. Did everyone get down safe? THAT is the key.
