    The Best Patrol?

Just wondering whose patrol do you think is the best? I mean, who handles their responsibilities the best, coolest with the public, and is just straight up good? Whenever I go to other mountains I always feel that their patrol has a different personality. How I can feel this I don't know, but I do. It could be just me though.

    Best --> Bridger Bowl.

Worst --> Snoqualmie Pass (I've heard they're mostly volunteer but damn!)

I had a pretty good experience with The Canyons ski patrol last year. One of the peeps I was riding with caught a toe edge on his snowboard at pretty high speed and face planted. He got up and on the lift and about 1/2 way up, told me he was going to pass out and fall off the lift. we held him on, the ski patrol was there in less than a minutes when we arrived at the top.

They checked him out and said he may have seriously injured his spleen. Called in life-flight and flew him off to the hospital in SLC. Good thing too because his impact split his spleen in half I've never heard of such an injury from a hard fall, but I'm glad that ski patrol knew enough about what they were doing to know that the injury was serious and to call in life flight.

    Brighton on the other hand....
"JONG!!!!!" is the sound a lift tower makes when a gaper runs into it.

One of Snowbowl's patrolers bought a round of Irish car bombs for the whole bar three times last year.

Best I've seen has been Bridger Bowl, and Highlands.

The amount of lines BB Patrol has to keep track of, let alone make safe, is mindboggling.

I had to be taken out of the runout of Highlands Bowl last year in a tobogon, and they made nasty uneven moguls feel like they were taking me down a groomed run, for which I was very grateful.

EDIT: I have to say Snowmass is some of the worst. Not sure about everyone there, but a couple years ago I was skiing there and caught a rope to the face that came out of nowhere, while tree skiing. Luckily I had just split up with my slowboarder freind cus he didn't want to traverse. I made it down to a picnic table, where I sat in shock for a while. When a patrol skied by, doing about 5 miles an hour, maybe 15 feet away from me, he made eye contact with me. When I stood up, waved my arms wildly, screaming incoherently, and he saw my blood covered face, he just skied off into the trees in search of some powder.

I got down to a restaurant on my own, where someone called the patrol for me. They asked me what day of the week it was, so I looked at my watch, and answered with the wrong day. They got me to sign a release form, then told me they didn't think I had a concussion, and I'd be fine.

    Thanks assholes.

All of them. Just like cops you have some that are on the power trip, but the majority are there to just do their job, maybe save someone's ass every once in a while and have fun.

the one that's there whe you need them

    best - saddleback, ME
horrid cold wind ridden weather (at least there was alot of snow) only a t bar was running...there were about 6 patrons at the whole area....I was on a metal runner sled and gliding downa gentle slope to check on my wife/kids at the t-bar....up behind me skis a ski patroller...I'm waiting for the "can't do that...blah blah blah" nope....much to my surprise I hear "cool old sled...Think you can ride the t-bar on that thing?" I was psyched and took about 5 runs sledding next to my kids as they were skiing....It was actually one of the best days of "skiing" I've had. my kids were stoked and so was I....Later the power went out and I went to the lodge froma condo we were staying in to see if I could buy a gallon of gas to get me to a gas station ....all the employees were at the candle lit bar and turned to see who was coming in when I entered....one of them said "aren't you the guy on the sled???...Anyhow...that's my story and I'm sticking to it...That was about 5 years ago and I rememeber it like it was only 4 years ago....

EnlosAndes keeps telling me how bad they are. I guess they don't even bomb the big chutes.

I would say Squaw has a damn good patrol, until they fired PC....fockers. Now I'll have to say Whistler. Always keeping it safe.

A few years ago, skiing at Keystone. A couple of patrollers were out skiing in the area we were, and invited us to tag along on an area that was closed......and they even gave us first dibs at the pow!

Taos. Those guys are are professional, know their shit, and are cool as hell. If I was going to work as a patroller I'd want to do it in Taos just to be on that team.

I dig the Alta patrol. Good peeps, they throw a shit ton of bombs, shoot large, military Howitzers and have amazing liquor-holding abilities for Utards. Also...Jesse muthafuckin Weeks..nuff said.

PS: Big Turns, I'm calling avatar infringement.

An Alta patroller overheard my wife bailing on me at noon one day last year. He invited me to ski with him and his partner for the afternoon, and they showed me some fun stuff on the backside before they had to bail. Some lady fell and thought she broke her pelvis.....

My vote is for Copper. I had a memorable evening with one of their female trollers back in the day.
