    Question Dynastar 4x4 Big questions

    (Yes, the flame ones.)

    Does it have metal layers in it?

    I've seen it quoted at 80mm waist and 84mm waist. Which is correct? Did they change the size at some point?

    i'm going on my old snot green and orange ones which i think are the same as the flames - they're certainly the same as the Arnos

    there is metal

    the 188 is 80mm underfoot. the 194 is wider - i thought it was 85mm but may be wrong

    You're right. That goes for flame 4x4's, snotgreens and Arno Adams. Plenty of metal. They're good skis. I used to love them back when 85 was wide.

    I can confirm the above for the 188cm ones and that the 194's were wider. 85 sounds right.

    shameless plug, Buy mine!

    Yeah, my old Intuitiv Bigs (year after the flame Bigs), a 194cm, are 85ish in the waist. Awesome ski...has a couple of metal layers.

    188 = 80MM 194 = 85mm

    188 = consumer ski

    194 = real deal race room ski

    super lively fast skis. basically fat GS skis.

    turny little bastards if you are used to 100-120mm skis nowadays though!

    I had the 194's (still do). They were so sweet back in the day. The tip was so tall I felt like they would never dive. I remember one super deep powder day skiing on them and thinking "It would be nice to have something fatter so I could float more." Then I thought "That is rediculous no one will ever make a ski fatter than this."
    Thanks Shane
