    Free Mac Word Processing Program?

My MS Word and Pages free trials have expired. Is there a good word processor other than the stock text editor that has some of the features of either Word or Pages?

Or should I just spend the money on Pages?

(I don't do a lot of word processing, but just enough that it would be nice to have a semi decent program.)

We're sorta like 7-Eleven. We're not always doing business, but we're always open.

Don't waste your money on MS Office...download OpenOffice or NeoOffice (open source programs). They are essentially the same program, though I think you'll have to have x11 to run OpenOffice. Both compatible with MS files.

Ok, apparently I don't have x11 and I don't even know what I'd do with it once I get it. Does it just automatically run in the background? Total computer idiot here.

you can get x11 from the apple.com website or from install cd's. When you open open office, it opens x11 with it

Exactly. I actually installed both Neo Office and Open Office on my mac and if I remember correctly, Neo Office is the one that doesn't pop an x11 window. They have all the functionality a normal user would need...though doing slide presentation charts can be cumbersome in both.
