Fire heats up ski area toilet
--------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jackson-AP) -- Firefighters spent several hours battling an
underground fire in a toilet at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Signs in the bathroom at warn people NOT to put cigarettes down
the compost toilet -- but it looks like someone did just that.
The fire melted plastic fixtures in the restroom. The flames
didn't reach out of the toilet, but Teton Village Fire Chief Watt
Hyer summed it up this way -- "It was too hot to be sitting on the
toilet."
The fire smoldered overnight before ski patrollers tried to put
it out by dumping snow down the hole. When firefighters arrived,
they had to ski five-gallon jugs of water down to the bathroom,
which can be reached only on skis or by snow machines.
They put out the fire after about four hours.
