    Berthoud Pass Slide

    hopefully no mags going bc in Berthoud this am ... rescue still going on currently.

    It's friggin spooky out there. We sat today out because conditions were SO sketch. Weird to be watching it on CNN and hear the sirens out your door. Hope and pray no one's dead. These are some of the worst conditions I've ever seen. Please be extremely careful out there!

    SO anyone know how the slide was triggered?

    Possibly a skier above the road, or just natural?

    Wild guess would be natural.



    Any idea how things are going up there?

    I'm hoping everyone is all right, but that seems highly doubtful. I can see some people being trapped in their cars, having big air pockets, but that can't last for forever.

    i just want to take time to mention what a lot of people in lcc, the most avalanche prone canyon in the U.S., do. take a recco chip and put it on your dash. we do look for those in road avalanche situations. also, wearing your beacon on those sketch days won't hurt either.

    You got a link to a cheap Recco chip? And yes, I beep on the way up that road when I do come there.

    no links but fly-k might be able to get you one of his artillary dud recco chips. they are cheap and just something to tape to the window.
