and it is blasting the Fightning Irish. Good god that ball easily flew 70 yards with a flick of the wrist. Brady who?

I'm in a band. It's called "Just the Tip."
no shit. this guy is fucking amazing
He reminds me of a young Bubby Brister n'at.
what a ridiculous interception
Irish - consistently overrated, year after year. #11 and BCS-worthy? No fuckin' way. Did they actually convincingly defeat any great (or even good) teams this year? They certainly got the stuffing beaten out of them by two of the contenders, (rather than pretenders like themselves) and they're on their way to getting smashed again by a good team. LSU deserves a better opponent.
Plus, the way they gush over Quinn you'd think he was the second coming of Joe Montana.
ND doesn't even belong on the field right now. however, quinn is a solid QB
it would be nice to see quinn lead a triumphant comeback in his final college game, but seems like it won't happen
Yea he really does. I always love the Auburn vs. LSU games and he is one of the reasons they are so fun to watch.
From what I have heard he can throw the ball from one knee on the 50 yard line through the uprights. That would be nuts to see.
LSU lost to Auburn and Florida, both very good teams. ND lost to USC and Michigan, two top 10 teams for sure. And ND consistently plays one of the hardest schedules in the country every year. Is this ND team outmatched tonight? Apparently so. But its hardly unreasonable that they were #11 and in this bowl game tonight. And in any event, the bowls are about drawing people to watch the games, not some altruistic system to award the most deserving teams. Anyone who doesn't think the college bowl system is only about using these poor unpaid kids for huge corporate bucks hasn't noticed that we now have 64 college teams playing in bowl games.
They do? According to this:
http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefootball/polls/117 , their schedule is 36th. Not so strong- and that was bolstered by having to play LSU in the bowl game. Notre Dame loses to all the tough teams they play- and then they cruise thru the Army/Navy/AF/Carolina/Stanfords of the schedule.![]()
The reason ND was even in this bowl game is because of the stupid BCS bowl rule- three teams from the same conference can't be in BCS bowls... which eliminated Wisconsin and Arkansas.
Randy Moss needs to get in his jet and fly to Baton Rouge andconvivce JaMarcus of his destiny in Silver and black....
oh god I have wood
To counter that, they played:
Georgia Tech
Penn State
Michigan
Michigan State
Purdue
USC
some decent teams there. I don't think ND's schedule is a bunch of cupcakes, but I love watching them get their asses kicked. The way the media pretty much gets on their knees and blows Charlie Weis and Quinn makes me sick. Already psyched for their trip to happy valley next fall!
Its not a cupcake schedule, but its not the strong schedule that all the ND apologists claim it to be. I'm curious to see how they are next year without Brady Quinn, medicine woman.
A strong arm is overrated as a quarterback skill. (eg. Joe Montana)
John Elway? Brett Favre? Dan Marino?
Im kidding, its not the end all- but a strong arm does help. And I dont think people overrate the arm strength, people know it is important but not the only variable/skill. Chad Pennington is recognized widely as a good QB and he cant break a pane of glass.
Michael Vick does have a strong arm and he sucks- Im just saying people dont go just by arm strength in judging QBs, but more often than not a good arm is pretty important in judging a quarterback. Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer have howitzers and they are good quarterbacks right?
Decisions Decisions
"I knew in an instant that the three dollars I had spent on wine would not go to waste."
I have never followed LSU much but I would like to see Jamarcus Russel return next year to lead the Tigers to more than the Sugar Bowl (i.e. National Championship Game). I'd rather see LSU in a title game than Urban Meyer's Gators.
How so? There are violations but NCAA rules are very strict. Too strict in my view. Jeremy Bloom comes to mind..
I believe the way to handle this is to provide a trust fund for Div 1 football players funded by the NCAA and sponsors AND an unlimited scholarship meaning they can go to college for free as long as they want. Upon completion of college they get their trust fund money free and clear.

Actually, it is. On paper, this years schedule was supposed to be very tough, but many of the expectedly tough opponents weren't very good. Last year they played the #1, 3 and 4 teams in the country (winning one of them) and also beating the # 22 and 23 teams. The year before that, they played the #1 team again, as well as 7, 11, and 15, beating two of them. The year before that, they again played the #1 team as well as 4, 8, 13 and 14. And the year before that they played 6 top 25 teams.
Do they always do well? No, but that wasn't my point. The point was that they consistently play one of the toughest schedules in the country. Chosing the weakest year of the past 5, which was still #36, to refute my point is silly.
