    Must... Be.... Patient....

Ack - it's nuking at Xtal. I knew it was raining up there during the day when it was so damned warm and wet at work but the telemetry for Green Valley shows the temp dropped to freezing around 3 this afternoon and since then 16" of snow has piled up and temps have dropped to around 26.

Tomorrow should be a great day for anyone who can make it up. I'll be thinking of you as I sit in class, studying RLC circuits...

Looks like snow will fall for the rest of the week, so this weekend should be real good. Who's going up, and where? I could be lured to Alpental as I haven't hit that yet this year, though a shot at the King if the South back opens is tempting too.

did you say 16" since 3pm?

<sigh> This had better be a fast moving month. Feb 1 can't come soon enough.

I hope for Northway and Monique's sake they have been able to groom the shit out of that. It sounds like it'll be horrible.

EXTENDED WEATHER SYNOPSIS FOR FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY
Following weak flat short wave ridging late Thursday through
early Friday, a strengthening west to northwesterly flow is
expected to move over and through the top of further flat
ridging offshore. An associated strong frontal system should
initially affect BC coastal areas late Thursday and early
Friday before spreading southward into the Northwest later
Friday morning and afternoon. With several short wave
disturbances depressing the ridge and forcing a strong 140-
160 knot jetstream slowly southward on Friday, this should
spread strong winds and increasingly heavy snowfall
southward over the area at relatively low freezing levels.
Moderate to heavy snow developing in the Olympics north and
central Washington Cascades mid-late Friday morning should
reach the south-central Cascades and Mt Hood area Friday
afternoon and night, with a second strong disturbance
expected to bring further heavy snowfall to the region on
Saturday. Brief flat ridging should produce slowly
decreasing snowfall late Saturday into early Sunday.
However, yet another strong disturbance should move over and
through flat upper ridging along the coast mid-late Sunday.
This should result in increasing moderate rain or snow along
with continued strong winds and slowly rising freezing
levels, especially mid-late Sunday. While a weak easterly
surface flow should provide brief insulation to the Cascades
passes from the warming aloft early-mid Sunday, a shift to
strong westerly Sunday afternoon should change snow to rain
below about 4000 feet in the north and 5000 feet in the
    south.

EXTENDED FORECAST FOR FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY
Increasing clouds early Friday. Light to moderate rain or
snow increasing Friday morning Olympics and north Cascades
spreading southward and increasing mid-day. Windy with heavy
rain or snow Friday afternoon and night. Strong winds and
heavy snow continuing Saturday with locally heavy
accumulations likely. Moderate to heavy showers decreasing
late Saturday and becoming light to moderate. Moderate to
heavy rain or snow redeveloping early-mid Sunday. Warmer
with heavy rain or snow and strong winds mid-late Sunday.

    * SNOW LEVELS
Sea level to 1000 ft N, 500-1500 ft S early Friday
1-3000 ft N and S late Friday and early Saturday
1-2000 ft later Saturday and early Sunday
3-5000 ft N, 4-6000 ft S later Sunday, except snow levels
locally and briefly near the surface early-mid Sunday,
rising to near free air levels Sunday afternoon

So tomorrow looks worthy and likely Saturday for this seasoned extrinsic

The toque needs a rest and is currently gently drying by the woodstove. Was Shackleton truely without Shackles?

Saturday's prix fix should include: Bear Pits, Niagra's, Exterminator, DFT, Hamburger Chutes and maybe even a run down Powder Bowl, eh? Toppings of North back and South back are likely dependent on marquet prices.

    Sounds scrumptious.

There I was thinking I'd likely jinxed the rest of winter by ordering a set of snow tires yesterday.

I can't even skip work to go skiing on Friday because I have to pick up a buddy at the airport.

Then ski with him Sat/Sun/Mon. God, life is rough.

I hope the upper mountain is open on saturday....

Strong winds and heavy snow continuing Saturday with locally heavy
accumulations likely. Moderate to heavy showers decreasing
late Saturday and becoming light to moderate. Moderate to
heavy rain or snow redeveloping early-mid Sunday.

I am hoping for two days. But would be happy for a morning early afternoon on Sunday.

Just a little hi Jack from your brothers to the Sud:

It's going off at Bachy too. "Official" report says 23" in 24 hours. Those of us in the know say it's "just a tad more". Waist deep out NW way and the cone ... well... it's soooo damn deep! Off for more within' the hour. Hopefully we'll have some pics to post.

Sadly, someone in this family has to make a living so I have been working the past two days and will be in Seattle working all day today. Skiing tomorrow a.m. though. I know, poor me.

Given the weather forecast I'm thinking of quitting my job as Consultant and applying for "Kept Woman."
I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.

Monique, at least you're not an elementary school teacher like me.

Talk about the guilt related to taking a personal day for skiing.

    It HAS to be good.

I am taking applications for a sugarmama.

Not to mention all of the resentment and jealousy I wasted yesterday.
