a very good movie all around. unexpected humor. great acting. and it actually made me feel all warm inside when it wasn't making me laugh.

Great movie.
Laughed my ass off. Very dialogue driven, not at all physical comedy.
The grandpa is hilarious, it's cool to see an elderly person with that kind of "I'm old, fuck you, I'll do what I want attitude."
Kinear is hilarious, as is Steve Carell.
"Again with the fuckin chicken. Can't we get something to eat around here that isn't fucking chicken." grandpa
I also agree this movie rocks on so many levels
Alan Arkin (g-pa) was terriffic. Kinear funny, Carell deadpan
instant classic
Saw it last night and really enjoyed it. Not surprising that the family of disfunctional characters all come together at the end but I can't really blame it for that.

Grrr, this movie!!
While walking home after seeing it in the Union Square theator... my tipsy friends and i saw a yellow volkswagon van parked near Cooper union and we all drunkenly thought it would be hilarious to recreate the scene by "pushing" the van.... threw my hip out and it took me two weeks to walk normal again let alone run!
GRR. the movie was hilarious, though!![]()
I watched it tonight and thought it was pretty average. The old quirky, dysfunctional family bit is getting a little played out in my book. I think it takes work to make Steve Carell not funny, but this movie achieved it. Alan Arkin was great, but of course dies off half-way through!![]()
I thought it was very overrated... decent movie, but not hilarious, and by no means should it have been a Best Picture winner.
I thought it was pretty good. Not nearly as good as the Royal Tenenbaums, but still funny. I thought the little girl dancing to Rick James' Super Freak was pretty funny and then having the dirtball dude stand up and cheer really made me laugh.
I enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine, but in the second-half the story felt a little lazy.
The trumpet scatters its awful sound Over the graves of all lands Summoning all before the throne
Death and mankind shall be stunned When Nature arises To give account before the Judge
I thought the ending was a total cop-out. Have to disagree with anyone who thought Carell wasn't funny as shit, though.
"French writer. Total loser. Never had a real job. Unrequited love affairs. Gay. Spent 20 years writing a book almost no one reads. But he's also probably the greatest writer since Shakespeare. Anyway, he uh... he gets down to the end of his life, and he looks back and decides that all those years he suffered, Those were the best years of his life, 'cause they made him who he was. All those years he was happy? You know, total waste. Didn't learn a thing. So, if you sleep until you're 18... Ah, think of the suffering you're gonna miss. I mean high school? High school-those are your prime suffering years. You don't get better suffering than that."
I thought that was some funny shit. The part was well written and I thought his execution was right on. But that's just, like, my opinion, man. I thought Kinnear was great, too.
For instance, "I killed a man with a trident today." Carell is great in anything IMO.
I enjoyed the movie for the driving scenes in Ventura, and the cop who loved the porn.
"Sweet, sweet, that is just sweet."
*I'm really bad at quoting dialog, I get it wrong usually, but you get the point.
I've avoided renting it because of the title. 'Little Miss Sunshine". Gag me.
Now I have to see it since it has glowing reviews.
Since I lost hope, I feel much better.
Saw it in theaters a while ago. I have rarely laughed that loud at a film. Everyone else in the theater was too.
just saw in last weekend. was it "slap my knee" funny, no but it wsa a good movie. the "super freak" dance was freaking hillarious!! and steve correll is one funny SOB (IMO)
"Don't let the bastards wear you down"- RFO
