I was working for Volkl in the mid-eighties when they released a hand painted graghic on two different models; the S1 and a Competion Series Renntiger. The Competition Series skis were a step below the Weltcup models and the S1s were a performance recreational ski. Needless to say, I had to have a pair. Two thoughts: I kind of wish I'd bought the 213s and, more importantly, I wish I had never drilled them. Though, I will say they always draw looks and some funny comments.

I've been told the language is an obscure Bavarian dialect. I don't know how accurate he was, but a gentleman in the Snowbird tram line told me the writing on the ski says:

There is nothing better than something good.

    I am I and I ski Volkl

    The tip says:

"I am I and ski on Völkl Ski"

It's not obscure - common Bayern dialect. The "There is nothing ..." line must be behind the binding? I'm sure Klar could translate better.

hey hunter... your bike got mailed today

and they actually measure out to the FFL shape (125-98-109). i tossed a micrometer on them over the summer.

and i like them. alot. the soft flex is actually $. i never figured i'd dig such a soft ski (230).

i tossed the dp stickers on cause i gotta pimp the cause a bit in the liftlines and with the helmet cam, and cause an all white ski is a no go

i love that, and it even rhymes!

"i bin i und fahr an Völkl Schi."

i am i and ski a völkl ski.

can't see the rest of the writing. and i guess some people would think even common bavarian dialect quite obscure.
