    Pro-form jong question

I searched Tech Talk but couldn't find anything except for mention of people buying with "pro-form" discount.

I am thinking about voluteering for the ski patrol and was told I would get pro-form discount. How steep is the pro-form discount? Is it wholesale?

    what LB said

some deals are cost plus XX% some are cost less XX%. varies a lot.

also deals can be better/worse for patrol, ski school, shop rats, owners, etc.

basically they are giving you a deal to help sell more of their product, more you can sell more the deal.

can't remember exactly from my shop days, but it depends on the company.

Burton was 1/2 retail and Volkl/Technica/Marker had some killer deals. Think I payed 225 for my V-Pros, 80 for M1400 Comp Free, and 170 for Orange Stiffy's from Technica in 01'.

Definately dependson the company and if it's a "shop form" or a "proform". I believe the "shop form" is a better discount.

Usually the form deals are wholesale minus an established percentage. Scored some Orage stuff three years ago for 50% off wholesale. With all the stuff I've formed over the years it typically runs about ten to twenty percent off wholesale.

Everything from Bell (Blackburn, Giro, Bell, Easton) is 40% off wholesale. Hmmm, new Remedy Carbon for me maybe?

Bingo. "Proform" is usually cost of the last supplier or "wholesale"... + or - a given percentage. This is highly deceptive because different outfits can have varying wholesale costs depending on what their level or volume purchasing dictates. Typically it is 20% to 45% off retail.

"Shopform" is where you want to be. Another term for it is EP (Employee Purchase) those are the best deals, but they are generally reserved for verified shop employees. Lots of 20%-50% off wholesale deals. Just Killer.

As most have already said it does vary a lot. At my store I can get dirt cheap gear like wholesale and then another 20% off of that (ie. G3, some BD, Solly, Rossi) and then there are things that arent even worth prodealing cause I could buy them with my reg staff discount instead of paying the same and going through the whole shipping deal and not to mention cross-border duty.

If you are thinking about it for this season. Good luck. Most manufacturers are sold out of the good stuff.
