Whistler Sun. and Mon. First time

I'm off to Whistler for the first time. I'll be skiing Sunday and Monday it looks like there will be some new snow. However, I've been advised to just ski one side of the mountain as it gets a bit overwhelming. Any suggestions on where I should head first?

Two days = two hills. Get up top early and stay up until the end of day. Get a tiny taster of what there is to discover in future trips.

    Have fun and post pics.

both days should be fairly quiet especially Xmas day. I'd suggest blackcomb on sunday, Whissie on Monday. make sure to hit spankys ladder and blackcomb glacier while you're on blackcomb.

Be sure to go to the Second Cup for a coffee in the morning near the base of the Whistler Gondola. Very attractive young ladies partake in yoga at the Lulu Lemon store next to it...or so I've heard.

I won`t be back up till the 30th, back east doing the family thing for the holidays. Your beta from SQ99 is spot on. As Pulver has suggested go explore the Spanky`s area and the stuff off Jersey Cream bowl. Get up there early to avoid the crowds and head in for lunch before 11:30 to get a table.

A copy of the Whistler Blackcomb for experts book is good beta also.

If you have your avy gear the slackcountry options are endless for either a short hike or skin.

For coffee either stop in to Moguls and say Hi to Bigtrubs, or support Behind the Grind. Merlins nachos are a huge platter of post ski goodness.

The forecast is looking good...wish I didn't have to head to the city

Go anywhere, just avoid the crappy, flat Symphony Chair...it's all hype

get a mug of coffee and park yourself at peak chair and wait till it opens.

lap peak and harmony all day. try to befriend some locals and see if they'll show you mcconkey's or kybers which take you about 3500 vert through old growth trees to creekside

I just got back from there and as fellow Whistler newbies we seemed to have pretty good luck by skiing Blackcomb when it was socked in, as the terrain below the treeline seems way better and the top seems to get up and running faster, and then heading to Whistler when it cleared up or the upper lifts got opened. The only problem is that it seems like no one on each mountain ever seems to know what is open on the other, even the ski patrol, and the light board things don't show it. Kinda frustrating to have to go to the bottom to find out. The conditions were great this week and the place kicks ass, you'll have a good time.

Going back to Washington, Baker, Stevens, Crystel or Aplental. Whistler hurts my brain. The top of the mountain shut down today. The rest was flat and to many tourist. I am sure its good when everything is going.

well I still have a purple toe and I'm pretty sure I have a new pair of boots that are either getting returned or going on gear swap, but thankfully the gf situation was resolved...

looks like I'm developing a shiner from today though, I'm really needing that fullface...
