I was mildly impressed. Felt like it took forever to get going. Sly looks OLD. Better than Rocky V, maybe better than III, but not as good as I, II, and IV, IMO. I could be crazy - my friends loved it.

Waste your time, read my crap, at:
One Gear, Two Planks
OK
to sum up:
there were two Rocky movies.
I and III.
II was just an extesion of I
IV & V were dreck.
There arre 2 Rocky songs
"gonna Fly Now" and "Eye of the Tiger." refrence back to point 1
this new one exists in the "post III world of irrelevance."
I'm going to have to disagree with you there, because Rocky IV did have "No easy way out" by Robert Tepper.

Yep, seen this before. Crazy liquor & cheeseburger party got out of control.
What about Livin' in America!
Rocky IV featured the Tetons as the Russian training grounds. Between that and a a massive, steroid using Russian badass what more could you want in a movie?

Ehhhhhh....not sure about III being so great. Take Mr. T out of it and it ain't all that. It's not supposed to be about Clubber Lang, and that's all it was.
And, to me, IV was pretty damn good. Of course, all Rocky opponents were supposed to be unbeatable, but Ivan Drago was more unbeatable than any of the others. Plus, in the end, unlike Clubber Lang, Ivan Drago had heart. He had guts. He wanted to win for something inside himself, just like Rocky. To me, Clubber Lang was just a little too imaginary - there was no heart, no pride. I'm not saying Ivan Drago was not imaginary, I'm just saying that in the end he was a more human character because he actually cared, showed some pride, and showed some heart. I think Drago jumping on the Rocky bandwagon was a bit much, but up to then I think he was the more "human" character, which, for me, made IV a little better than III.

III was great because Rocky ended up fighting a bunch of bums after he beat Apollo, and Mick had him ducking the number 1 contender. A number 1 contender that was just like him, a poor fighter from Philly who just wanted a chance. The fighter who had the ultimate chance denying someone else the same opportunity.
Plus III had Hulk Hogan. End of story.

I'm not saying III wasn't good, just that I think IV was better. Clubber Lang was just too over-the-top for my taste. After all, it was "Rocky III," not "Clubber Lang I." I thought IV was better because there's just a lot more going on. Apollo is killed, Drago is more unbeatable than anyone else. Yeah, Mick dies in III, but Rocky gets over it pretty quick. The first time I saw IV, I actually found myself doubting whether Rocky would win. Clubber Lang, on the other hand, never had a chance. Don't get me wrong, III is very entertaining, I just thought IV was more in line with the overall Rocky story than III was. III just seemed like a little too much of a circus.
BTW, I would've liked to have seen Mike Tyson talk some more trash to Antonio Tarver. That was a pretty cool sight.
