Bumped into stephan this evening and he mentioned that the 138's were just over 8lbs - i think he's planning on posting revised 07 weights up on dpsskis.com soon.

Incidentally i've just spent the last week on a set of 07 Lotus 'blems' that Stephan leant me. Double the rocker tip and tail of last year's, thicker sidewalls, revised tip profile etc. These things kill it; they accelerate out of the fall line like nothing else i've skied, no more turning to shed speed. Will post a review + pics over the next couple of days. Incidentally the first batch of skis apparently shipped today and should be in Boulder within a week or so.... Happy days.

Since I don't have the scrilla to get my hands on a pair of DP's, and seeing that the Praxis are sitting in my base ment, I was thinking that it could be the poor man's 138. Yeah, I know they are totally different but it's the general idea of a rockered ski in the BC that I am sold on....as I have been rockin' 'em in bounds on deep days and nothing compares (toons). I do somewhat trust the weight posted by the folks at DP because they are core guys but generally only trust the weight when someone other than the manufacturer weighs 'em.

Frorider - let me know what you think. Sounds like you are going to use treckers...no?

Sick deal. Hoping my replacements for my '06 138's are in that batch! [/fingerscrossed]. Improvements sound killer....can't imagine the '07 version skiing any better...or faster...than the '06 since that was such a kick ass ride. Cantwaitcantwaitcantwaitcantwait.

I kind of doubt that frorider would try to merge treckers with his telebinders that are mounted on the Praxis .

    Aaaaaaa!

Keith just send me a photo of the newest skis coming off the press. They look pretty awesome. Now I want them, and he wants money, which I kind of don't have.

and yes, stephen's weights are accurate =/- a percent or 2, in variation between skis.

Those look so sweet. Fat Yeti got a pair of the black ones that are awesome too. I'm kind of bummed I got the camo, but they ski sweet so graphics don't really matter. Right?
    Thanks Shane

Why are you getting a replacement for the 06 138's? Was there a technical problem? Reason I'm asking is they have the 06's "on sale" but I'm wondering if it's worth $250 to just get the 07's.

    Thanks

Woh. I have the black ones in the mail and am pumped being I'm all about black but those do look tits. White makes them look so much bigger...I'm scared for myself.

Due to the topsheet problems from '06 (slightly overhung, led to some chipping & peeling) and the improvements on the '07 model....I randomly got an email from DPS a few months back saying that all '06 138 owners could send in the pair they bought last year for the new & improved '07 model. So I jumped on it.

The topsheet issue really wasn't a problem at all...but since DPS said they made improvements for '07 I figured why not jump on it and get the latest & greatest for just the cost of shipping the old skis back and the new mount.

Thanks TS. Maybe they'll sell me your old ones!

What? Used/demo 138's for $650? That seems just silly to me.

I'm not sure they are selling recycled skis or not:

    http://www.dpsskis.com/page.php?pnam...&product_id=29

This is the 2005 Lotus 138. We stopped selling this production vintage at full price because the perimeters of the topsheets are prone to chipping. Over time, you may end up with coin size chips on the top-edge caused by impact from your opposing ski edge. On the other hand, structurally, this is a full-on thoroughbred carbon ski, offered at a discounted price. It’s arguably the best powder ski made next to the 2006 edition. This ski will blow open up your powder experience into a whole new realm. Weighing in at only 2000 grams per ski (4.4 lbs.), and with more power than any other ski construction on the planet, this is a good chance to get on the carbon ski train and enjoy all the carbon performance benefits for less.

There is a very limited supply of both flex 2 and flex 3 192 cm Lotus 138’s left. No warranty. $650

I don't think they're used. I just think they're "blems" or leftovers or whatever the heck you want to call them. But I doubt they've been mounted/used, etc. Double check though first of course.

the ski absolutely rips. If I wasn't offered a replacement, I'd be happy as hell and would never sell it.

Mine will be in the five fiddy batch.

He's making some sort of traditional design next so I'm not sure how long it will be before he gets another run of these out. He seems like a motivated (and hence, busy) guy. I don't know if all of this run is spoken for though.

I can't wait to drive to washington to use mine once I get them.

my ninja black Praxis just showed up!!!!!!!!!!

Initial Thougths: I agree 100% with what others have said on initial impressions on the construction & design. All appear to be very top notch. The top sheet has a similar feel and shade of black to the 05/06 Gotamas and has a nice little 45 degree slope from the sidewall to prevent chipping. Bases are smooth and beautiful. Edges are sharp and very even, nose & tail rivets are very nice touches.

The flex is a touch stiffer than the 05/06 Gotama, similary ease in the nose & tail. Weight is almost a dead even 10lbs. The reverse camber is spot on the same on both skis. Mounting line is also dead on, impressive.

Will post some pics when I get my hands on a camera, until then I will be cuddling them and dreaming of pow.

    Thinking... $550 Praxis - $ ??? Spatulas w/ 997s = $ cheap upgrade?

Maybe. Still haven't decided. The construction on the Praxis looks a lot more solid than on the Spatulas; that's mainly what's got me interested.
