NYC MAGS!! New Years Eve Bash Beta Requested!!

A few of us gals from CA are visiting a friend in NYC who just moved out there a few months ago...we're looking around for good NYE bashes...ideas??

We don't want: clubby, Times Square, overwhelming, really $$$...

We do want: good tunes, good peeps, good booze, lower key, not too pricey

Also will be out there from the 28th of Dec- Jan 2...might be cool to meet up with a few of ya's!

Some friends and coworkers rented out a bar downtown......Its open bar 10-1for $100, cash bar before/after that. Very laid back probably 60-70 people tops. If your interested I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem. Other than that some of the hotels have parties though they can get pretty spendy.....

In that case, definitely avoid Club Overwhelming in Times Square.

try http://www.cpnycnewyears.com/ they have a bunch of options. probably wont find many under $100/person though...nyc is expensive.

also, check out 230 5th (http://www.230-fifth.com/newyears.html) its an awesome loungy type place with a huge rooftop deck with insane views.

bunch of friends of mine have a special deal for $60, 6-hr open bar, appetizers, champagne toast, etc. I forget the bar but it is very chill and not too fancy. PM me if you have any interest

I HIGHLY suggest you see The Greyboy Allstars on 12/29 at Nokia Theater for a funky good time....


also, The Slip is playing NYE in crooklyn....

if you like jazz at all I suggest John Zorn and Bill Laswell at Tonic on NYE, early show at 8:30-10, then the bars after....
