email cell phone?

Well i have busted another cell phone, my motorola v400 screen shit the bed today when my son threw it 3 ft to floor. AWESOME!

So now i have the ability to write shit off, i am thinking of upgrading to a cell phone that can do email. i most likely won't surf the web on the phone, but man am i overwhelmed with info.

What is the best email capable cell phone out there? Best for the buck, i don't need the best EVER. And how much am I looking at for a rate plan? I don't do tons of minutes talking, minimum carries me over fine with cingular now and the roll over. 400 mins or less.

I've been pretty happy with this one.

It added about $50 to my monthly bill though. And I only went with Cingular because they already had me in their tentacles for another year or so.

And extended my contract another 2 years...

I use a razr on cingular and email with that, aim as well. It adds 20 bucks to the plan, but its unlimited internet. I used it as a modem for my computer before i got a wireless card. If you don't have that plan, you will be charged per k/b.

T-Mobile is the cheapest for mobile data and most voice plans, but you really gotta check out their coverage first to make sure it goes where you want it to. They have an online map thingy where you can type in addresses, it is accurate.

I have liked Blackberries for pure their ability to sync with Outlook, which was very important in my life then, and their perfection at mobile e-mail. The ones I had were mediocre as phones and big. Now BBs are smaller and more "fun" but I have no experience with the new models. I don't do any mobile data on my Treo 650, not necessary for me now, but I love it as an organizer and for text messaging. It's real sturdy, too.

The Nokia e62 that shown above is sweet, but kind of a brick. No camera, but the best operating system and most Mac compatible of all. Nokia's are known to have awesome reception, great sound quality, and a solid build. I have no personal experience with this one.

As for mobile e-mail, I used to sell big corporate packages and I used a BB for years; it is the shit if you get a ton of e-mail. Even if most of the e-mail is ignorable but you just have to sort through it, you'll love it. If e-mail is ever -EVER - time sensitive, you'll find it priceless. I hve so many success stories of people solving a problem or closing a deal via Blackberry, they are make or break devices to the tune of thousands for so many people. Plus, you "waste" less time - at in line, at a traffic light, waiting rooms, - these are all places where you gget your time back by taking care of e-mails you won't have to deal with at home or the office. I could go on and on...

I'm on my fourth Treo -- one 300, followed by two 600s, currently on the 650. I'm not able to judge objectively at this point, because I have too much time and money invested in Palm apps that make my life easier, from the shopping list manager to the wine review database. But I'm an addict.

luckily i am without a contract right now, so it frees me up to go where i will. thanks for the info so far, the blackberrys are sweet but spendy, not sure how $70+month is going to fly in the expenses

The data plans for email are all over the board, it really depends on the carrier and the usage. Unlimited data from Sprint is probably the cheapest, $15 per month. Verizon is more $ 49.95 and really is not unlimited due the terms if you read them closely.

As for phones, most are PDA's- either Windows or Palm OS based but there are some standard phones that have email capabilities, however the keypads of a traditional phone stink for the typing of anything but a quick, short instant message type of response.

treos are retarded expensive... i know at least with verizon, their proprietary phone seems to outclass the treo and the motorola Q too for $100-$200 cheaper

I've done a bunch of research and i'm about to pull the trigger on the Blackberry 8703e from Verizon....its the full keypad one and has gotten great reviews. Its a little big but durable and the phone quality has improved over previous BBs.........
