    Squaw To Host IFSA EVENT!!!!

Check out usfreeskiing.com, the TBA event is now listed as Squaw Valley...
there hasn't been an event at Squaw since 1995. Does anyone know what venues are being considered? I'd imagine Light towers to C2 for one day, and then maybe Silverado? This is for sure going to draw some interesting locals as well....Thanks IFSA and Squaw for working together....Does anyone know when registration is epected to open?

    sounds sick.

Light Towers to C2 would be good, as would China Wall in Silverado. Palisades?

Holy crow, that could be really cool... And yeah, I bet the lineup will be solid.

    Palisades would go...

Last time it was in Squaw, I believe the venues were Fingers, Light Tower, and finals out Tram Bowl. I recall some Eagles Nest runs as well in years past.

It's cool Squaw's doing this. But as much as it's a filming/ripping skier playground, it's not necessarily ideal for this kind of comp. Nothing here rivals Kirkwood's Cirque or has the length of other venues. Nose to Fingers is great to ski but only okay for a contest, Light Towers to CII is okay, and China Wall in Silverado would be the best day. Maybe they could hold a Sickbird/Stunt day on the Palisades, but it certainly wouldn't be a legit contest venue.

Yeah, there is a lot of one hit terrain, but there's also stuff that's closed all the time that could be fun....The Roof to Attic to Cork Screw (if it can be done)? Looker's right of Mole Chute all the way down the ridge of tram face could be a sick final day....You could watch the comp from the parking lot! Pallisades....depending on how much snow we get...if its like last season, lame...still a very one hit venue no mattter how much snow, same with Granite...

if I were planning it, it would be the fingers, granite chief peak and silverado, but like everyone is saying, squaw doesn't have any long good terrain thats good for a comp like this.

I have a feeling this event will fill up faster than the urinals at Pierce Street (RIP) as soon as registration starts. Nose to Fingers or Ludwig's to China Wall are the only places I can think of that would be comp worthy and not just mini golfish. Should be sick though.

    Thumbs up

    Pretty cool.

Wow. Two stops on the US Tour around Tahoe. Add a stop in Mammoth and you could have a little California Tour kinda of like the Colorado Freeskiing Series.

Oh great, now Tyrone is going to compete. There go my chances...

What's the point in a Squaw comp though, when any yahoo can pick up Squallywood and shred any line???

heh...I can picture all the competitors at the top of the venue each with a copy of Squallywood saying:

"Shit well, this line rates a 7 and that line rates an 8 in difficulty. I'm doing THAT line."

It's almost like the skiers will know the line scores!

There should be a game of G.N.A.R. thrown in as well

    I can see it now:

Pick a number, one or two

    huh?

Come on I don't have all day! Ones go line up on schmidiots, twos on becks now pick a number and get in line.

    Wink

Huckasaurass, you pussy. You think Squaw's not ideal for this kind of comp? What would be ideal, the cafeteria at the Shady Acres Retirement Home? Put your walker away and come try and hang with the young bucks- I understand last place is a jar of Ben-Gay, so you've got nothing to lose by entering.

    "Pro Call-Out" = 5,000 G.N.A.R. points.

Is talking about this 2 months out jinx worthy? Ski corp might need to get some extension hoses so they can point the guns at the fingers....

Hang with the young bucks? You mean destroy, put on a clinic? Oh, and I'm not a pro, so your call-out doesn't work. A pro has to make money as a skier. I do not. And it has to be done in a liftline or in front of Dave's Deli, doesn't it?

Whoever competes should plan on getting their trick on, because a little freestyle thrown in will really separate things. Otherwise, the lines thrown down will not be a whole lot different from what we're all doing every good day, with or without walker.

Now, Tram Face would be another story and one of the best venues ever...But that's maybe a 50-50 shot. And there's about a 1% chance of that.
