Smile TR: 12.8.06 PICS of Bluebird + STEEP + Trees + POWDAH!!!

    Trip Report - 12.8.06
    Bluebird + Trees + Powder

    Riedhresko, Vicious, Summit

It had been a week since the last storm but we wanted some POWDER. We had to wake up a little early... after a short drive we were on our skintrack!

Up up up and over and we found some steep short chutes.

    Riedhresko

The snow turned out to be much trickier than we thought with a virtualyl unskiable breakable crus for most of it. Shoes were dropped.

    "Oh teh noes!" -Vicious

After watching the carnage... I decided I wasn't going to try my luck in the crap snow so I chose the trees instead. There I found at least a foot of recycled POWDER!

It was time to stay in the trees:

Oh it was just beautiful recycled powder... deep and wonderfull!

After skinning back up for a little more, my old skins decided they'd had it, ripped some more and came off.

Duct tape to the rescue! Once more up the hill!

It was a very fun day with some hijinks. On the final run I accidnetly knocked my pack down a slope ejecting almost all the contents. I was unable to find my skins, nalgene, or hat. But the day was still totally worth it. We made our long ski out and headed home for some beer!

So true. Although the dude is ripping on alpines considering his heels have been free for about the last 10 years.

    Good day gentlemen!

Was wondering the same thing, then realized it is probably Summit's initials.

I don't think he shoots for Associated Press.

Ryan, no doubt. it is way crazy to have my muscle memory instinctively go to drop a knee with the heels locked down after almost a decade of tele-ing. now I remember why all these alpine fuckers always make it look so easy - because it is.

and yes, AP is Aaron's initials....

thanks for another awesome day out there boys. A, your pics are looking damn good these days

Beautiful pictures, yesterday was gorgeous, bluebird and no wind. I had some fun with that funky snow up at Berthoud yesterday. Taking my first run in a month on my new skis (with a broken buckle on my boot to boot), I proceeded to take two turns and beater down Russell Peak. That was fun, but we hit it again and the second time was much more successful.

What happened to working the weekends/Fridays, Summit?

That looks like it sucks. I would MUCH rather have been fixing some cougar's computer.

Think tomorrow is slalom training, and my slalom skis are broken. That means I ski elsewhere... check your PMs.

Sweet TR effort by all. And it is good to see J-man back in action.
