Zappa plays Zappa

Going to the Vancouver show on Dec. 20. Cant f--kin wait! Has anyone been to any of the shows yet? Ive read some reviews and Ive heard its good from "a friends friend" but havent heard from someone whos been. Im sure it will be awsome considering it is his son and it is 2-3 years in the making. It will be shweeeet.

Sorry for the namedrop, but I discussed this with Dweezil at a friend's BBQ when he was putting this together. He said that he only auditioned complete unknowns, and that he worked his ass off to get this shit down note for note from his dad's original transcripts. I've heard great things about it.

Unfortunately, all the Band from Utopia guys are on the family shit list, particularly Ike. Too bad, because it would have been really cool to have Ike singing, at the very least.

BTW, one of these days, if we wind up at the same mini-con, I'll tell you all my Zappa stories.

Im glad that you confirmed the fact that he did bust his ass to get everything down just like the originals cause thats one reason I bought tickets in that they actually took a lot of time to get it down and didnt just slop it together.

You say that its all unknown people playing, but Ive heard that there are a couple originals in there, but it sounds kinda crazy to me.

Nevertheless, just over a week to go and I cant wait.

Well, that was when he was putting it together he said unknowns. maybe that has changed. That was like a year and a half ago.

I saw it here in Denver. Was a great show! Napi, Bozzio, Vai, they were all great! The rest of the band kicked ass as well! I liked the setlist. Dweezil really seemed to take a lot of pride in the whole production, and was really having fun.

This is one of the very few times I'm bummed that I live in the Kootenays. Anyone have Dwezil's email? Perhaps if I send him an email I can convince him to play Nelson.

It used to be Dweezil @ Zappa.com. But since the tour, it's been disabled. I know how to get a hold of him via another way. But why not jet down to Seattle for the show on the 22nd? We have a spare room.

Holy Shit!!! Todays the day and I cant freakin wait for the show. Oh man its gonna sweet. Beav, I think this is one time Im glad Im in the city. MadMatt, what setlist did they play? Was it mainly earlier Freak Out, Only In It For The Money, Hot Rats songs or was it more mid 70s Roxy and Elsewhere, One Size Fits All songs or did they go even past that into the 80s and 90s?
