    They are finally here

DHL dropped by my house today and delivered a new pair of 179 Bros. I will not be able to ski them until Saturday but just looking at them I know they have been worth the wait. I really don't know what else to say right know but FKNA I am stoked.

There will be a TR from the ice of The Great Smoky Mountains Sunday night.

The bases will need a stone grind, the edges are ok but I will tune them up a bit for the hell of it. It has been a long wait (since April) but I believe it is going to be worth every bit of it.

This space reserved for a similar post. Come on, Wednesday!

Pechelman: what shop are you at? I'm pretty sure mine will be here without a stone grind, so it would be good to get a full-on babying tune to make them good to go. Hopefully late next week. Looking to ski them next Sunday.[/counting chickens]

I dont work at a shop.

When mine get here, Ill probably be taking them to edgeworks if that makes any diff. Why would you think yours would arrive without a grind? Something special you had requested?

I could have sworn I read the Pat was going to get them ground this year to make em flat. Id try to dig it up, but Pat has, how do you say, a lot of posts

Got mine a while back, mounted with P15's.

1st turns if the year were on Tuesday, 300ft of hard pack, man made, bliss.
Since then it's been a book you read in reverse, so you understand less as the pages turn.

Ah. I guess you meant more of a collective "us" than you and your comrades, which is how I took it. Seem to remember you being slightly involved in the process of that which is PMGear (though I could be making this up).

My skis were pressed a week or two back and have since been waiting for a stone grind. I requested they be shipped this week with or without the grind.

I'll let Pete at Alpine Base and Edge do 'em right. Maybe this should be a tech talk question, but what are the edge angles set at/recommended for skiing aboslutely everything? 1/1? 0.5 base/1 side?

Yea I helped PMGear with the design of their new fatties.
Still kinda help out whenever I can, but sounds like they have some new interns that are picking up full time.

1/1 would work as would 1/2 with the former being more durable and the latter a bit more aggressive.

I'll meet it in the middle at 1/1.5. Thanks, P.

Just an observation of irony here (or maybe aproposness): splat's avatar is of the russian proletariat guy, and we are involved with "powder to the people", mimicking communism/socialism. In keeping with the theme there is a long line to wait in to get the best stuff...

I chose to get the grind done instead of wait. As far as the trueness, I don't have a clue. I took them out of the box and dropped them off at the shop.

Bump for my very own "got my BROs" post. Thanks, splat.

The flex is a LOT softer than what I thought it would be (not even sure they're stiffs), so I'll ski them and review.

And as far as base trueness, Z and I looked at them, and I couldn't tell that well. He seemed to think one of the bases was a little off. There were some interesting patterns left on the bases tonight (puddle-looking regions of residual wax) after a hot scrape and a subsequent wax with 25* wax.

Hope to get them up to some speed on Sunday.

Stoked to finally have 'em. Sorry for all the bitchin'.

Thanks. I noticed that last night. Felt like I had to put a BUNCH of wax on just to get the coat even... I'll definitely keep the peepers peeled.
