Bridger Opening Date Dependant Upon Additional Snowfall

Just updated, sounds like unless we get something significant they won't open by the 9th as projected. I suppose now is about the time to start sacrificing old ski's to Ullr...

rough man, don't you wish every year was like last year up there????

If Bridger actually consistently got 350-400 inches, I don't think I ever would have left.

It's snowing outside right now, looked like we might have a little
Bridger bowl cloud effect this morning.....but my hopes aren't too high
for the weekend - don't think we are supposed to get much at all this week.

Some good deep turns in the Bridgers this past weekend if you could find the places with old snow underneath.

Yeah, looks like opening may be a wash this weekend, however there are still goods to be had as leroy jenkins and FZ found out saturday.

Bridger opening postponed until we get "a significant change in weather." The scheduled December 9 opening is officially not happening.

Time to start burning those skis.

Dang, this IS bizzare, Snowbowl sitting pretty in the early season and Bridger without enough snow to open! This is very odd. I feel for you guys, often times it's us that is struggling in limited slop while the BBC effect burries you in cold smoke, so I know your misery. I hope things turn around there pronto, as long as it doesn't mean we have to lose our conditoins for it to happen.

Wow does this suck. This is like a bad dream or something. Forecast is REALLY bad throught the 18th, REALLLY WARM and DRY. Skied Mr. K at Big Sky this weekend and man do they need snow, never seen it like that up there. They did open the triple chair today to ski the bowl, heading up tomorrow for that. Lets hope something changes S O O N!!!!!!!

Relax... Although this sucks, neither Bridger or Big Sky are "great" until late December. Bridger is notorious for getting puked on right about the week of Christmas. Big Sky just need a lot of snow to be good period. I remember skiing the little gullies off Challenger last year in early January and getting my skis raked.

We are only about week at most of where we are most years, so I expect things to change fairly soon. Pray for it, though...Can't hurt, right?

aj_77, were you at Bridger for the pre-season early opening last year when it was belly button deep all day? I had my best days all season in VERY early December if I'm remember dates right.

No, not last year. The last three years, I have been at college so, I have only skied in MT during mid-December to mid-January and in March. But, I am actually referring to what I remember the snow patterns to have been for the 15 years before that...

The nature of Big Sky is that yes, they do need a lot of snow to be completely covered....that is one rocky Mtn. However, when it is good up there like it was last year, it is sick.

As far as it changing soon, I know I sound like a negative nellly, but I just don't see it. I have a close buddy at NOAA and although they take a lot of shit for not getting it right, they are right more than they are wrong. Continues to look really warm and dry through mid Feb. Not saying that we could not get hit a couple of times but it is a low probability.

I did hit Big Sky yesterday. Condidtions were sketchy McSketch. The triple chair is open and the bowl was skiing ok. The south wall had some pretty nice snow, yes there were some rocks but if you stayed in the gullie part of hte run and not up on the ridges it was pretty good....even got a couple of knee and thigh spots in places.

All we can do is keep Praying for Snow.
