Thumbs up Gypsy softball buddy that got hurt update.

Well for those that remember my friend Gypsy that got the side of his face crushed in during a softball game last summer he is doing well. He was able to start work again last week, and just got cleared to snowboard again.

Problem though Gypsy didn't have any gear because he has been out of work since it happened. So I went and emptied my closet of ski clothes. Hooked him up with a pair of Salomon softshell pants, a helmet, obermeyer shell, My old Briko helmet w/somewhat new pair of goggles, gloves and old fleece stuff I had.

Another buddy got him a snowboard, and another buddy got him boots. The look on his face when we gave it to him was the best Christmas present I've ever had.

we modifide the helmet with a face mask like kids have to wear playing Little League when batting to protect his full face. I'll get a pic of him next week when I ski with him for you guys.

that is awesome TJ, way to once again go out of your way to help someone else!!! Did you think about putting a full face hockey visor (goalie cat eyes a bonus) for that rugged Canadian look?
Our world is full of surrender at the first sign of adversity, do not give up when the challenge meets you, meet the challenge. Through perseverance comes the rewards, the rewards that make life so enjoyable.

Seize the day, trusting little in the future.

if you want something, go after it. if you want to screw someone over, look DEEP in your heart and realize Karma is a bitch

Actually when Alex (buddy that bought him his board) first came up with the idea of the helmet cage we thought of the junior type hockey maskguard. But you can't put goggles on with it, or get your fingers in there to clear out snow. I thought about the little league mask. To protect his chest and neck from being injured from the mask we added some small padding. We too a little kids bike handlebar crossbar pad and fitted it to the bottom bar of the face mask.

Plus the baseball mask sits lower than the hockey mask did which protext his face and jawline better.
