    Extended
Outlook Up --- A tiny storm developed on the dateline Fri/Sat (12/2) providing 24 hours of 50-60 kts winds aimed best at Hawaii generating 32-36 ft seas for 12 hours. A far stronger pattern is expect this week as the jetstream consolidated and makes a major push east eventually reaching California late in the week. A series of 3 storms is forecast to push from the dateline east into the southeastern Gulf of Alaska generating 50-55 kt winds and 40-45 ft seas (all three storms) starting Monday and continuing through Sunday (12/10) [See detailed forecast for more info]. Blacks doesn't look any bigger than it did when I was here in July, but that's supposed to change. Too bad I fly north tomorrow.

Then again, maybe Marin will deliver?

I bet you coulda gone to Porto and scored close to double overhead sets while still surfing like a total jackass.

Anyone check out Black's yesterday or today?

Pics of this latest swell would be much appreciated since I am stuck here in Eastern I Da Ho and now live my surfing life mostly vicariously.

i was hoping it wouldn't be hitting as hard down there, things would be all peaky and spread out, and, and,,,,,,

today - planned on going up to leo/county line, got to dume, checked it, 1 guy out and waves coming through (something didn't seem right, some kid goes "what, is there a shark out or something?". go park, walk back, get in and shit just ain't happening. caught a few right by the shelf, surfing boils over the rocks. got bored, went to topanga.

topanga was all blown out, but some sizable waves coming through. caught a couple, realized my arms didn't work anymore and went home and made pancakes.

    on again tomorrow.

Tuffy, were you at Big Dume or Little today?

Yesterday Big wasn't happening at all. Little however very much was. Pretty dang big. Average sets were definitely OH with biggest sets rolling through around DOHish on my very unscientific measuring scale. Some dude at Staircase was trying to tell me sets were like totally 14 - 16 feet. HUGE he said. Um yeah that might have been a slight exageration.

I too surfed like a jong. Repaired shoulder + friends board = Jong Comish. A lot of watching going on. People actually started cheering people into waves because people were definitely have a tough time catching them until it was almost too late = lots of sizeable drops. Some made, some not.

i was at big. saw guys down at little, figured it couldn't have been much better down there and it was a lot less crowded at big. me=dumby.

finally remembered how to surf today, hit sunset before dawn (stupid suit and booties were still wet - forgot them out in the rain last night), head high to overhead sets, not too crowded, lotsa fun.

so exhausted. i think i'm sleeping in tomorrow.

Holly hell! Just just noticed that the So Cal CDIP model is showing 23' swell height, 17 sec period at 295 degrees. Too bad for So Cal the angle isn't more around the 275-280 range. Black's musta been pumpin' today though. Cortez Bank and Todos must be off the hook if conditions are holding up. I hope to see writeups of Cortez and Todos in the near future on surfline.

Lunada musta been triple OH+ today. 23' swell heights only come around So Cal almost never. 20+ foot wave face heights at the NW hot spots...uh...can we say rhino chaser or elephant gun or Sea-Doo?

Today was pretty fucking good. Little smaller than yesterday, longer wait between sets (I ain't complaining, easier paddling), and for some reason, fewer people

Just got back from Kauai, 12/4 to 12/12. Surf advisory was at times 20-24 feet and the break near where I was looked to be triple OH. The buoy data I checked out one time said 17 ft @ 14 seconds. I looked out from the lineup of the beginner break in the bay where I was and saw guys getting rides just about constantly. Sometimes three people up at once on three different waves...long rides, some tubes and cutbacks. Beautiful. Guys were ripping it up and nearly everyone made the drop...once every 40-50 rides I'd see a board go up in the air or someone get swallowed by the whitewater but it was pretty rare not to see someone make the most of the ride. Then, for me, it was back to focusing on the knee to waist-high swells that made it in to where I was. Got in 4 days or about 16 hours of sessions...caught countless waves on the nice beginner break...maybe 40-50. First time surfing ever and now I find myself a bit indifferent to skiing (or anthing else for that matter)...I just wanna go sufing again!!
