Anyone else catch this?

Paul Giamatti (sp?), is amazing in this film, and the film itself is like a car wreck, you can't stop watching it.
I'm not even sure if I got the entire film, but it was really interesting. Really strange cartoon inserts into the picture at random moments, keeps you guessing and the guys total and complete psychosis is pretty entertaining.

Definitely worth the rent, not exactly uplifting, but interesting all the same.

This movie was f'ing great. I rented it last night. Being a native of the westside of Cleveland, it appears that some of the movie was filmed near where I grew up. Living in Cleveland for 20 some years I never heard of Harvey Pekar. Makes me wonder, maybe I should of stayed in Cleveland and been a file clerk...

I just saw it last week and thought it was a great film with a very interesting quasi documentary format. Although I don't think it's quite as dark or disturbing as you do. Granted Harvey is pretty anti social but he lived his life in a productive and creative way, which is a lot more than I can say for a majority of the masses of shiny happy Americans I see on a daily basis.

Don't think that it's necessarily dark, but I think it's probably viewed from the mainstream as that.
Agreed, it's rare that people actually have an outlet for all the shit that goes on in their lives, many just shelve it away and let it fester.

Cool movie, highly recommend.


Oh and the menu, the chapter selection is one of the coolest I've ever seen, geeky but very cool.

A co worker who I respect for her intelligence and hipness labeled this one of the best movies ever made when she saw it on the Screen. I see now that she wasn't too far overboard after spinning the DVD. Of course, this is almost a pure digital incarnation, and I'm not talking special effects. What a dismal life. The last person to do this well was Fassbinder.
