Feb. 9-11 Maggot Straightline Camp Lodging

Anyone looking for lodging for this camp? I've been working with WhiteHunter and TacomaLuv to find lodging up the canyon and we're looking for extra people. Right now I'm thinking of a two bedroom place for about 4-6 people. So if anyone is in need of lodging let me know.

I thought we were going to stay @ the room Gordy had booked?

I'm in for some form of lodging, I was (and still am) assuming the cheapest option will be Gordy's room.

If people are getting a room the night before the camp, I would gladly pay to crash on the floor.

Problem with Gordy's room is that it's only available for 2 nights and some of us will be there for 4 nights.

Damn, I believe we had this conversation before. IIRC, there aren't any rooms for just Thursday or Sunday night. Is this correct?

When I called I was told there was a 4-night minimum on rooms.

I'll hopefully be flying in the weekend before. I'm trying to take the entire month off, but if for some reason they do not approve the whole week I'll be flying in Wednesday night.

When you you and TacomaLuv getting in? I think she said Tues originally, skiing with some friends of hers out there???

I think WhiteHunter and I may be on the same flight into to town on Thursday late morning (11:30ish) and l leave Monday around 5:30. So the goal would be to ski Thursday afternoon and Monday Morning. Not sure about TacomaLuv's plans.

I'm planning on coming out early but frriends are being wishy-washy with plans, so I might go to Telluride or Butte first for those couple of days (Sun-Weds).

Either way, I'll need a place to stay around camp starting on Thursday night and through Sunday night. So whether that be in a condo two days and the suite two days, or the condo/whatever we arrange for all four nights, I'm cool with either.

I'm headed down to CB, Telluride and Silverton after the camp for a friends wedding, so I'll probably stay in SLC the days before the camp. My boss said he was going to send me an email about my vacation request 2 days ago, but I haven't got anything yet.

I'm trying to take the entire month off, and rent a room to base myself out of, but would like to stay up the canyon for the weekend, so the 2 nights in Gordy's room work for me.

That sounds about right. How many are thinking of staying in Gordy's room so far? I think he said this years place would sleep four with more on the floor. (this is where somebody else reads through the thread and responds so I can focus on the stoke)

I looked at the thread Maggot Camp February 2007. Here's a link:

    http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...aightline+camp

In that thread I count 8 people that showed interest in splitting Gordy's room for the two nights.

    Hutash
    Hev
    Daywalker
    Grange
    WhiteHunter
    TacomaLuv
    Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo
    StroupSkier

According what was posted by Gordy the room has a king bed, pull out queen sofa and a bunch of floor space. the price was about $400 with tax per night.
So if all 8 people are still interested it would be:

    $400 X 2 = $800
    $800 / 8 = $100 per person for 2 nights. This doesn't include Gordy's portion I believe.

Again the problem come down to what about the other two nights.

Could we split a room down canyon for Thursday and Sunday night? We would have to take the bus to get up for the start of camp but everything else would be smooth.

You and I are going to be tri training at night anyways, so with our 30 mile runs and 100 mi road rides we won't even need a place to sleep we can just show up at camp and shower and then ski all day.

Now that I'm done with finals I have some time to look for rooms. I'll check out some cheaper places for Thurs & Sunday night and post back.

If you need another body to make some kind o' arrangement work, I need a place to crash from Thursday night through Sunday night - otherwise I'll be sleeping in the back of a rented Subaru.

Well with that reference, we may have reached critical mass. I know for sure we have at least 4 that are interested in staying in the canyon all 4 nights if possible. There are still two units left at hellgate at $400 night. 4 or more makes it reasonable to stay there. If Grange & TLuv are still up for this option we may want to get this done soon before they're gone. If Daywalker is interested we can get this down to under $100/per person per night.

I was thinking the same thing. I think I've called around to almost every place up the canyon and Hellgate seems to be the most reasonable for what you get. I tried to get a place for just Thursday and Sunday and then use Gordy's room, but the only rooms I could find that would rent out one night at a time were the dorms or a small private room with one queen or two twin beds. Both these options were still expensive.

I am still interested and agree that we should get this settled soon.

Does anyone know what time camp ends on Sunday? There used to be a link at Gordy's site that had a camp outline/review from someone. The last flight out I can take is Sunday at 5:30. I would like to stick around for an extra day but classes and money are making it look pretty bleak. Sorry to be a complete shitshow here, but I'm having to guess at whether or not I can skip out on two classes in a row of 400 level engineering crap.

If you guys find a different fourth from the camp for the rooms it would probably be best. I should know in a few days if I can take it or not. If you find a fourth and want to still let me aboard for floorspace that's cool too.

Grange/Whitehunter, how are you guys planning to get from SLC up canyon on Thursday? I'm going to try to get in some skiing Thursday afternoon as well and will be coming into the airport around the same time (theoretically).

Last year we finished up sometime around 4pm. There were a couple who had to bail out around 3-3:30. If we end up getting somethihg booked here you can definitely stay. I think we'll end up taking a shuttle from the airport up. If you switch to a Sunday flight, they have shuttles that run from the canyon to the airport on an hourly basis.

What time were you getting in to SLC?

Even though I am trying to rent a room in SLC for the month, I think I would still do the 4 night option @ hellgate if that's what it took to stay up there those nights.

I haven't heard back from my boss about my vacation request to take the month off though, so don't count me as a definate yet.

Hey, just saw this thread and have made my plans for flying in/out. Arriving Thursday evening and flying out ~530 sunday as well. I am still in for the accommodations up the canyon on Friday and Saturday.

I would be in for Thursday and Sunday night if there is room and we want to get the price down(but my case manager refuses to vouch for me in any way). I wouldn't mind not having to hassle with moving between hotels and all that shit. But just to clarify, we are talking about Thursday and Sunday at the same place as Friday and Saturday, right?

Yeah, if we rent a condo at Hellgate it would be for 4 nights. The only way I've been able to find out about renting 2 nights is if they are consecutive and then there is an additional fee.

    So who's in?
