Alps weather correlation w/ El Nino, weather geek ?

So, from my reading it sounds like Ca is gonna steal the jet stream back from WA and BC in little while (1-3 weeksish). It sounds like this El Nino is setting up to be on the moderate side hopefully leading to a bountiful harvest of Pow.

My question for the Yurp weather geeks out there, what does El Nino typically or historically mean for the Alps? Given CA and the Alps seem to be the last places in the world for winter to start this year, maybe there is some sorta correlation?

    Paging subtle_plague ...

There is a bunch of information on the net about this, but IIRC the consensus is El Nino has little effect on Europe (being a Pacific Ocean phenomenon). There are much more important trend indicators. This winter was supposed to be warmer and wetter than average IIRC.

Here you go. There is also a link from there to winter forecasts for Europe. If you search google there is also a bunch of information out there in German if you read it.

I should've explained the link - the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is more important for Europe than the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO). If you google for NAO you'll find lots of stuff.
