    grrr. worthless tech rant

took my girlfriend's auras and s810's to get mounted at sports authority today. got a call just now

tech: "the bindings can't be mounted on the skis"

me: and why exactly is that? i checked the list, they're indemnified still

tech: no thats not it, the skis are too wide.
*pause while i ponder what he's trying to tell me. its like another language*

me: um... how is this a problem? as far as i can tell, that gives you even more room to work with. do you have a fat jig?

tech: no, i only have the jigs for the newer skis, the newer skis are all skinnier

me: .....um, where to start?... first off, these are new. they came out this fall. second, just so you know those rossi 4s you had in the shop are not the "newer skis". are you sure you don't have a fat jig in there somewhere? or maybe just clamp it and measure?

tech: nope, sorry, there are all kinds of test i have to run and that would mess them up.

*sigh* probably for the best, if he tried he probably would have fucked them up. the nearest ski shop wants $70 for a mount. fuck this shit

dude, it'd be cheaper to ship them to me, let me mount 'em, and have me ship 'em back. which is totally fine, if you are interested...

letting sports authority mount your skis is like jerking off to pics of your gf's mom.

    you just don't do it.

What if you're dating the girl to get to her mom? As in, a hot, older woman with money, who loves buying you bros and praxis, and then letting you ravish her on the kitchen counter, all while making a home-cooked meal for you? (As in my fantasies.... boy, I hope my girl doesn't read this.)...
....I think that would be allowed.

    That was your first mistake.

just got another call, the dude who i talked to when i dropped them off (not the tech) says he bought a wide jig and the tech can mount them tomorrow morning.

should i get the skis back from them and run the fuck away? the dude thought the skis were 10 years old, because they were fat, i'm not sure i want him drilling those babies.

basically, if he knows how to mount skinny skis and has a fat jig, is it hard enough for him to fuck it up that i shouldn't worry, or should i find somewhere else to do it?

Did you read any of the answers?

Don't let Sports Authority touch your skis. Ever.

edit: and don't refer to their employees as "techs"

agreed. Any place that sells jock straps, footballs, etc... should not be mounting skis. Run away very fast

if they fuck up your skis, you SHOULD be getting a free pair out of the deal....i would DEFINITLY look around a bit more though before you had to have SA do your mounts

Our world is full of surrender at the first sign of adversity, do not give up when the challenge meets you, meet the challenge. Through perseverance comes the rewards, the rewards that make life so enjoyable.

Seize the day, trusting little in the future.

if you want something, go after it. if you want to screw someone over, look DEEP in your heart and realize Karma is a bitch

If they fuck them up? If the so called "tech" does not know a fat ski he will fuck it up. Go get them NOW. It's pretty easy to do yourself if you measure it all carefully.
