I give up
I've been desperately holding on to my bikes this fall, unaccepting of winter's coy advances. I think I was just pissed about snow in September wrecking my opportunities of high country, fall color riding.
Out of a combination of weather spite and new job flexibility I've been able to squeeze in more than my fair share of riding up and down the Front Range over the past 3 weeks....I think I got it out of my system.
The tide has turned. My new ski boots (some Dobie 130s) are in the mail. I went into a bike shop for some business last night and was intoxicated by the smell of wax, then I walked outside into a blizzard. The tipping point came as I took my dogs for a walk in the snow, and all they wanted to do was run. So we ran, and my little terriers were spazzing out, getting faceshots and loving it. It was legitimately puking in Denver for a short while last night, and the sting of snow on my face sparked something. I am ready now. I'm not an October ski guy, barely even a November ski guy...but Thanksgiving has come and gone, so that means its time for me to ski. Game on.
Now i just gotta get the boots, some new footbeds and break the new 'pain caves' in. I'll be the guy popping advil in the parking lot.
