    Thermo fit help question

Picking up a pair of Garmont thermo fit liners on the cheap for my Scarpa T1's soon and this will be my first time working with thermo's.

To start with- I have read all the threads in Tech Talk, Telemarktips, TP and Telemarkski in regards to the home heating/molding process.

However, after calling around the MPLS & St Paul (MN) area, I found a shop that heats thermo liners up by putting a couple of tubes that force hot air down into the boot to soften up the liners instead of putting them in an oven. Anyone hear of this process/ have success with this type of heating before? It basically sounds like i would have to make my own toe caps, etc. & basically do it myself in their store. Nice of them to offer it free of charge, but am i better off doing it in my own oven? ?

BTW- they are listed on bootfitters.com as a trained and recommended bootfitter. (if that means much)

    thanks for the help

    either way works,

if you have a unformed liner, or need a lot of shaping the oven is best.

if the liners come shaped, air tubes work well, but take a bit more time to het up to heat.

make sure they are hot enough

make sure you have no heel folds in the liner

make sure you use toe caps (more toe room and the heel gets to the back of the boot)

I've had better results with the full oven, especially the first time cooking.
There's nothing better than sliding down snow, flying through the air

Our shop has a Garmot liner heating machine that you basicaly stick the liners on upside down on these tubes and then put a cover(we use a cardboard box) on over the whole thing. After 15 min you put the liners back in the boot and stick your feet in there with toe caps on and wait 10 min. That how they want us to do it and it seems to work fine.
