Any of you know of a decent kite surfing store in or around NYC. A mate's heading there for a few days & I'm thinking about getting a new kite for cheap as the $'s worth only a few groats now. Cheers

Monty Python's version of the cougar phenomenon:
"This is a frightened city. Over these houses, over these streets hangs a pall of fear. Fear of a new kind of violence which is terrorizing the city. Yes, gangs of old ladies attacking defenseless, fit young men".
Thanks Gita. That is indeed lovely.
Most of the reputable surf shops are out on Long Island in the Hamptons, not really close to the city. Maybe you can check them out online and get them to deliver what you want to your friend's hotel.
One place that I have heard of is here http://www.w-surf.com/
I've never shopped with them, but it might lead you on a path to finding something useful.

I come up hard, baby but now I'm cool I didn't make it, sugar playin' by the rules
If you know your history, then you would know where you coming from, then you wouldn't have to ask me, who the heck do I think I am.
Don't know if they have kite boarding stuff, but you could give em a call and they might be able to direct you - its a surf and skate shop called New York Pipe Dreams

The Jeresy shore (hair spray not needed) has a few good surf shops as well but the closet to NYC are on Long Island (Long Beach). Not sure if they carry kite surfing gear but it's worth a phone call.
I would recommend this site called 'Google' - it's a search engine and see what surf shops come up and then give them a call and ask.![]()
elevens
why make ten turns when you only need to make NONE!

There's a shop in Greenwich CT - about 45minutes out of the city - that carries all kinds of kites, boards, etc.
I'll see if I can find the name for you
edit: Outdoor Traders on Arch Street - easy walking distance from metro-north if you wanna take a train.
