Just to be safe(due to the Bruce's early morning advisory), we skinned up the groomers to the top of the lifts that end mid mountain and then just road down the powder shoulders next to the groomers.

Today is a high avalanche danger day. Best stick to resorts..

Wow, I am very surprised you went out on a High Avie day. At least you used your head and went somewhere controlled.


Now it gets interesting. Cold, sun, snow, lake effect, clouds. I think I will stick to a resort this weekend. Call me a wuss (or just using caution). Wife and child have that effect on me, sorry.

Yeah, after listening to Bruce's report at 5:00AM, there was no way I was going to go into the backcountry. We didn't even ride the black diamond runs at solitude just because they hadnt been blasted yet, and there was a good 20" on them. I figured that riding the 30ft wide powdery shoulders of bluesquares (with the center section already groomed out)would be a pretty damn safe option...Low angle, not alot of snow between the trees and the hardpacked run, easy escape to the side...I dont know that you could get any safer.

TH, you think the roads up LCC and BCC will be closed around 5-5:30AM tommarow(Tuesday)? I really wish udot would post somewhere about when they are closing for plows and avalanche control
