I had my 175s mounted on the line and basically didn't know how to ski (until this year with new boots). I went from a 315 boot to a 303 boot, effectively moving the mount point 0.6 cm forward. I skied them in some soft windcrusted snow one day and had to lean WAY the fuck back to stay afloat. Z remounted for me (thanks, man
) at 1.5 cm back from the line (a 2.1 cm move), and they ski dramatically better.
I don't know about a full 3 cm, but my experience at 1.5 back is tremendously better than at 0 or particularly .6 forward. I haven't skied them in anything soft since the remount, but I have definitely noticed an increase in hardpack performance and having to lean back a little less in bumps.
I am 165 lbs 5'8" and ski semi-aggressively. Somewhere between gaper and rockstar.
Hopefully someone has some more experience with mounts further back.
