Sitting here at work and was checking out the Kicking Horse real-time mountain cams (big sigh) and it looked pretty busy.
Has anyone here been there this year?
Ever have to wait in lines? (Gondola or Stairway to Heaven) longest wait? (both again)

...And the greatest ice must crumble when it's flower's time to grow.
Been twice this year, longest wait for the gondy was ~5min. Never waited for the stairway to heaven (well, once when it broke down). Remember, its only a 12 minute ride to the top and 4100' back down so it doesn't feel like you're spending the day on the lift, anyway.
Monday is a holiday in Alberta so makes sense that today would be busy for a Friday.
Though I checked it out and Gondola looked pretty much walk on.

good to hear. i'm hoping it'll stay that way until they figure out a way to circumvent the 5 hour drive from Calgary Int'l.

it was the top that looked a little jammed... hasn't snowed there in over a week and i bet not a lot of people doing top to bottoms. wish they had a STH cam.

You on a road bike? Well that would be fast for a road bike. KH says its 2.5 hours but I don't think so if care about speed limit and getting fines. 3 hours from NW calgary I think is a reasonable number certainly under 3.5 from airport.Originally posted by mushmouth

we drove it last year from the aiport and my time might be completely wrong, but there was a bunch of traffic leaving Calg and I'm sure it took us over 3hrs. 5 hours might have been what I was telling people to deter them from spoiling the place...i get it (and many other things) confused now...

Probably went the wrong or long way . Go Country Hills Blvd to Stoney trail to Hwy 1 . Get to Country Hills go north out of airport or follow Banff shuttle buses. Also cheapest beer/booze on that route at real canadian liquior store right beside the real canadian superstore at Sarcee trail.
