I wish, it replaces the Burner split tail 167 that someone broke for me at ECES 2004. Can't wait to ride it.
Bacon tastes good. Pork chops taste goood.
I used to ride Option, but then I got into Never Summer (after a short lived infatuation with atomic.) NS=seriously some of the best lumber on the mountain. With the size eleven try a salomon f boot, they aren't as bulky, have a smaller footprint and they're crazy stiff. Binders? everyone has something good these days. I'm trying some Romes on the recomendation of a trusted friend, guess we'll see how that works out-
Im a broke ass college student, so when I drop coin on a board it better do everything well. Im 6'3 200 lbs by the way if it helps. I also do mainly freeride and spend little time in the park. I like riding fast.
With that said I got a Burton Custom 162 LE with the ostrich leather topsheet. Same price as a regular custom on sale so I said fuck it and went with the bling. Looks damn good if you ask me. The Custom is Burtons bread and butter board, and it didnt get there for no reason. The board rules. Super stiff, slays the steeps, and just wants to fly.
For bindings Im running a set of Nidecker Carbon 900's. Super comfy, real stiff and provide great response. One of the best freeride bindings out there if you dont want to drop coin on a set of Cateks. I can crank these bad boys down real tight and it doesnt even feel like I have a board on my feet. These make my setup really, so much control which really helps when Im really moving. Great if you like to ride fast, but theyre kinda heavy/stiff so not your ideal park binder.

Who is Quota and do you go by the same name on BOL (or even post on BOL)? Nice to see more hardbooters. I love the look of that Winterstick Swallow.
I need a new Swallow. I broke my 4807 (split down the middle, not in half like normal - plus delam'd the tail). It was OK, but I want a ST with a bigger cut-out in the tail. That Mojo shape looks interesting.
Willy, did I sell you that Burner? Or was it someone else on the east coast I sold it to? Can't remember. I sold it because I was pretty sure I was going to do exactly that to the tail if I kept riding it. Plus I wanted the bigger Donek.
What do I ride: Everyday board is a 180 Coiler RaceCarve. Or a 171 Donek Freecarve - but that's getting old and has become me early/late season board so I won't feel bad if it gets a big gouge in the base. If its an uncrowded groomer day I break out the 210 SG board and freak out the skiers with their wimpy little 180 skis.
The new Catek soft boot bindings look pretty sweet. If I had to ride soft, I'd probably try those, either that or Flow bindings. I just bought my hardbooting 9 year-old daughter a pair of Flows and Nitro soft boots off SAC. She's starting a snowboard freeride team this year and I know she's going to want to experience what its like to ride boots/bindings like the rest of the kids.
I really should try one of the bigger Khybers in the powder. If it floated and went fast like a Swallowtail, I'd love one. Big swallowtails are awesome, but they can be hard to turn when its super steep and really narrow. That's a lot of board to do a jump turn on.
Sinecure, a unique option for the khyber-fishesque boards is the 172 Lib Tech Mullet...I don't know about the stiffness, though. I am hoping to try one this season on some super fatty day. They kept the sidecut relatively normal, with a slight setback, so it is a bit more turny than most 172's, or so I gather. I think it is available with magnatraction this year as well. I dunno, I guess i could go check out the Lib Tech web site....how freakin' lazy could I possibly be?
Nitro Pantera 166 wide
Nitro Pantera 165 LX
Nitro Shogun 166

rideit: I looked. Lib-tech does make that, and it has the ginsu BS crap serrated edge that I can't imagine trying to tune.
After thinking about it some more, I realize there's no way I will feel comfortable riding a board that wide. The Khyber and the Mullet have waists around 26-27.
Upon further reflection, I thing a bigger Prior 4WD is what I should be riding in the powder. I have friends who race on them as well. If I get some spare cash I think I'll have to try one out. Maybe we'll have some powder when Prior comes down this season for demo day. My mom wants to know what I want for Chanukah, but I know she'll kill me if I suggest a snowboard (she doesn't know how many I have, but she knows its more than 3 and she can't figure out why anyone would ever need so many). She was flabbergasted to learn that my kids each have two boards/skis. No wonder I'm broke.
That is one reason I ride the 161 Khyber over the 165 in day to day conditions...(Actually, I got rid of the 165) is due to the narrower waist width, so I am with you there. The magna traction (supposedly) is not much more difficult to hand tune...but I would be leery running one up to a grindrite!
Have fun, either way...Hannukah...ask for eight new boards?
Ride 03' or 04? Bought it off my younger brother a few years back. Thinking about getting rid of it for a pair of skisIm not sure of the exact model but it is still in really good condition. Think it would be worth selling?

I'm trying to remember if I post on BOL, but it is still early and I'm just waking up. I post as Quota on advrider.com, wildguzzi.com, splitboard.com, and one or two others. But BOL doesn't come to mind.....remind me what BOL is?
I actually don't ride the hard boots as much as I used to except for the splitboard and the Dynafit boots. My reason for starting to ride hard boots was maybe different than others. Back when the resorts started letting us start to ride the lifts around here, I did like everyone else and modified my Sorels. Went over to Daleboot and bought some liners from Mel. Ground off the toes and heels as much as I could to decrease any chance for drag. Put a velcro "power strap" around the top of the boot. That worked ok and then Look came out with a real snowboard boot that I liked. Problem was the bindings. Didn't seem to matter what you had, Burton, Sims, GNU...Seems like every day out meant a broken highback, strap, or some piece of hardware falling off. I decided to try the hard boot/plate binding setup for no reason other than reliability. That, and the fact that the soft binding were not the easiest to get in and out of and I didn't like the idea of setting my ass down in the snow at all.
I rode the hardboots all the way up until the Switch bindings came out. It was a simple system with not much to go wrong, and easy for me to get into. Rode that setup until 2-3 years ago when the boot broke and I couldn't fix it. Going back to the soft bindings after all these years hasn't been so bad. They work well, but I miss just stepping into the binding as I get off the chair. That and the fact that my flexiblity sucks and it isn't as easy for me to bend over to strap in. If the right deal on some Flow bindings comes along, I'd maybe try those. The Flow product has come a long ways since I tried them the first year out. At that time I couldn't believe that Neil Pryde could come out with such a terrible product like the Flow binding, but like everything else, there is room for improvement, and the Flow has improved immensely.
As far as the swallowtail boards go, the Winterstick is my favorite if I were going to be in untracked all day. I guess like a day of heli might be (haven't experienced that yet). But I find whenever I get in a spot where it has been tracked up some, the nose gets bouncy. The 4807 is the one I probably use the most since it isn't terrible on the groomed getting back to the lift. Actually the Voile sees considerably more use than the 4807, but for touring of course. The Wasatch Mojo intrigues me. Same guy that designed the Winterstick Swallow in the pic came up with the Mojo. I'd have bought one of those from him a year or two ago, except he wanted considerably more than some of you paid for them. Have to demo one from him once it starts to snow again.
With all of that being said and the snow conditions not being great, I think I'll put on some hard boots today and take a carving board out for a few runs and hope for some condition that will put me back on a swallowtail soon!
BOL = bomberonline.com - Bomber - makers of the trench digger binding (among other things)- probably the most active hardboot forum.
I must be weird....all the snowboards I own have cuts down the middle.
