want to MTB ride on Tgiving AM North Jersey

Hey, from Rochester,NY, spending Tgiving in West Milford, first time there, I've been to Harriman Park ten years ago. Is there anyone who wants to get out for a couple hours thur am? Not necessarily Harriman but it seems to be near West milford. I'm looking for some guidance on trails etc. will Not be bringing the single-ated hard tail as i recall Harriman being less rolly-more techy. So the squishy bike will be comin' along.

Any Takers? or suggestions on places to get some ridin done?

A couple other options in that area outside of Harriman are Blue Mountain in Peeksill, NY and Skyline Drive near Oakland, NJ.

Only been to Skyline once, but Blue Mountain is a great place. Was down there last Saturday and things are somewhat clear, considering the time of the year. Won't be around this weekend though.

"Skyline Dr" - is that Ramapo Lake or Ringwood Manor State park? or both?

They appear to be right around the corner from where I'm staying.

Thanks again, I'll probably just poke around in there. Gotta get some relief from the relations for a couple hours anyway

I think the trail name is the Cannonball trail, but there's a whole bunch of different loops and some that are DH trails. I don't know the park it's in, but I'm pretty sure it's seperate from Ringwood. Like I said though, I've only been there once, so take my ramblings with a grain of salt...

    There's some info here:

If your in W. Milford you can also go to Waywayanda State Park. It's about 5-10 Min. from Greenwood Lake going towards Warwick, NY. It's a great mix with some nice technical stuff. If you park at the ranger's station and hit the trail right across the street I think you'll have a good time. Thing is it's only 1.8 miles to the end, going back the other way would be a bitch and the only other option would be to hang a right at the end and eventually hit about 100 yards of water up to 2 feet deep that is unavoidable. Kind of cold for that kind of ride. Besides....looks like a washout with the rain coming in tomorrow anyway. Get there Friday when it dries up. If you are persistent I did hear there was actually an organized ride there Thursday at 8AM. Ride in past the rangers station and make your way to the boathouse by the beach. Can't tell you if they are still doing it with all this rain though.

    That didn't sound so good...

OK, Update, Didn't ride yesterday, the persistant rain, and the 37-ish temps kept me from going. Today though, I'm in, still looking at the Ramapo area. First going to the Botanical Gardens in Da Bronx. Back around 4pm, looking around then.

Just saw this thread now. Rode from Skyline Drive to Ringwood and back yesterday. Would've been nice to show ya around. PM me next time you're in the area. As long as this shitty (warm) weather sticks around I'll be biking instead of skiing.

So i had a nice ride on friday afternoon, 4 pm til dark. parked on skyline at the upper lot, the second one on the left from 287. I crossed the road and found some yellow trail marks, quickly figured out that wasn't the riding trail but kept at it (hike a bike over the top) cool techy descent and eventually came upon the Cannonball-red "C" trail marks, followed that until I came to the stream crossing and turned around to come back. Sorry I wasn't able to hook up with anyone but had a good ride. My sis and her new hubby live down there, would love to have that in my back yard! I only scratched the surface and next time I'm down I'll send a shout out.
