    backyard rail/park ?

Well my ghetto backyard park has been lovingly sidestepped, raked, the entrance ramp has been built, the bottom kicker is begining to take shape and I just went out and bought a piece of PVC pipe to use as a rail. Its pretty big and not so long so I might put 2 together to have multiple hits in the park but I don't know. My biggest problem is I went to do my first rail slide ever and well.......the rail slid me I just had it laying on the snow with a ramp on and off(more like a mailbox feature) and the whole thing slid out from under me! Is there any way to anchor the rail/pipe into the ground????

yeah I thought about adding legs to it but since I'm just learning the closer to the ground the rail is the better I like it I really have NO park knowledge whatsoever, but my goal this year was to become a more rounded skier and since I always bitch that the park guys never ski all mountain I figured I'd go ski some park, but I really don't wanna learn how to ski rails and land 180's in front of some 12 year old Tanner Hall wannabe who's already got his switch frontside mutegrab corked 573 to revert landing dialed and is going to laugh at my miserable attempts to even land a 180 clean

laser, I have two rails tht I setup, they were in the ghetto backyard rail question thread last week. I have one setup right on the snw as you have stated, however, what I did was bury the uphill end, and prop the other end up on a log. Covered and packed it in snow, then we got a little freezing rain and it setup. It stays in place now.

You could also bolt the pipe to a board and bury the wood, it won't be too high off the ground for learning.

    Oh yeah and pics please

last night was my first time out on skis this season due to an injury that had slowed me down a bit. also my first time out on twin-tips. i know what you mean about feeling weird or out-of-place in the park.... i was afraid of crushing one of those little kids if something went wrong or somebody was sitting in a blind landing. that kind of thing made me tread more lightly than i would have liked.

the way i see it, i'm out there working on it. i got so far as riding over some of the "rails" without automatically falling over, and being able to feel comfortable landing switch. yes i felt stupid at times, but a bunch of little kids aren't going to bother me.

think of it this way, are you trying to become a better carpenter/handyman or a better park skier? get out of the backyard and ski, dammit. leave the construction business to someone else.

Drill some holes i the bottom of the PVC pipe and insert some dowel rods to act as anchors.

I'm in the process of doing something similar. I had all the snow plowed from my driveway piled up for a start hill at the top of my downsloping lawn. The start hill is about 10-11 feet high right now and pretty steep to get up speed fast. Below that I have built two hits. 1 small one and one bigger. Down below that I might either put in a rail like yours or I might try to build a small 1/4 pipe feature or both.
