“Before The Music Dies,” a film that takes a critical and comedic look at the homogenization of contemporary popular music, premieres in Denver on Sunday, December 3, at 7:30 p.m. at The Oriental Theater. This is a free show.
The film features performances and commentary from artists including: Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews, Erykah Badu, Doyle Bramhall II, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Questlove, Eric Clapton, Calexico, My Morning Jacket, Branford Marsalis, North Mississippi Allstars, Les Paul, Hubert Sumlin, Billy Preston, Michael Penn, and Steve Poltz.
Using historic footage the film looks at the evolution of American music and the artists who created it and pulls back the curtain to expose the sad truth behind today's "artificial" music stars.
This special grassroots presentation is complimentary, and any donations will benefit Denver-based Creative Music Works, which promotes music education and provides free performances for underserved sectors of the local community.
