    Suicide Chute Today...

Was Sickter. Sorry--no pics as I was flying solo, and travelling light. Light wasn't anything to write home about anyway. The snow was creamy pow up top, crazy sun crust down low. I was surprised noone had hit it up yet. Breaking trail was all that bad until 150 vert from the top. Had to ladder climb it all the way from there, and needless to say--I was spent. Regardless, felt great to get the first turns of the season on a classic line. See a bunch of you tomorruh at Alta.

I know where it is, no offense Powstash, I just wanted to see how filled in it was right now. Sad as it sounds I haven't been up LCC in the last couple of weeks. I'm hoping it doesn't look any where close to your June pic.

It actually looks worse. As the apron is a mine field. The couloir looks good, except for the exit. But numbnuts would have to verify that.

The chute was nice--although there still isn't much snow in it yet. I was punching through all the way to the ground at the top--made me a little nervous. Didn't dig a pit--didn't feel the need. There was about 6-12" wind deposit or compacted old snow layer on top of a layer of graupel. Graupel piles up about mid way down that thing like nothing else. I wasn't breaking through on my skis, but it made for some ugly booting up at times. The choke is pretty sketch right now. Frozen chunder monkeys and rock--definitely needs more snow. The apron was pretty much what TH indicated--a minefield with a breakable sun crust--SWEET! My legs were spent by that time, and I needed all the help I could get. While Suicide could definitely use some consolidation, it's still very good to go. Thank me later for the boot pack...
