    First Impression: 4 Buckle T1s

Fist impressions about my new T1s as compared to my old and pretty beat TRs

I went down a shell size but otherwise the fit is pretty similar. Got a bit more bootfitting going on than before but still...if you have a scarpa foot they didn't fuck you.

Between the new liner and my tighter fit they're not as warm, my toes were a bit cold touring @ ~5*s

    Liner quality seems fairly high.

Skiing, I only have limited tele turns but they seem fine, nice progressive seeming flex not hingie as someone hinted. They're also easily as stiff or better as the TRs when they were new (asym TRs).

Still need to replace the power strap with my booster strap and am debating adding my solly spoiler for some added tailgunning oomph.

Walking/touring is no more awkward than in the TRs.

So far I'm happy, at least they're not laterally played like my red boots

Did you go down a size b/c you felt like your old boots were too big, or is there a significant difference in length between the old shells and new? I'm in the market for new boots - just wondering if I should consider dropping down a shell size.

lb, how much touring do you do? I've been on TR/T1 forever, 80% bc, and thinking the new series is finally too much to skin. Especially now that most of my partners have gone Dynafit. And the T2 is prolly as big as the original TRace??

Fuggit, it's all about the down, I'm stickin with T1's...They look pretty rad.

I just bought a pair of last year's T1s. I was in bowling ball blue T2s since they came out (~6 years at least). I was getting the liners thermofitted when they rolled out a dolly full of the new T1s.

I am sorry, but those things are retarded...But I still gave it a

Hope the new TR's aren't too stiff for me. I went that route because I wanted the extra forward lean and didn't want to deal with the accidental tour mode skiing. I'm starting to think I won't be doing many long tours in the new TR's. Good thing I've got some fully modified old T1's that work great for touring. (1 shell bigger, thermos, TR tongue). I didn't realize the T1's don't come with the Booster strap like the new TR's. I'm going to need to modify it anyways because when I feed it through and cinch it down the velcro doesn't line up. I doubt it'll stay very well like that.

I dropped a shell size for the same reason. They were really tight without molding. I hope I can make them fit right. I can't wait for them to come. I'll be on my old beat TR's with a very sloppy tour mode switch today

thanx for the pre-review LB. i have a relatively high arch/instep and have found garmont enerG's to fit my feet better than the T1/TRs of previous years. have 2 prs of enerGs in good condition, yet find myself looking at the new TR thinking hmmm this might be worth upgrading to for those resort-only days.

any comments on instep/arch volume on old vs new T1 shell?

Still - I tour a fair amount ~50% which is why I got the 1s but MT said that his discos toured okay (short tour) the other day. I'd say if your touring is of the FUCKING RAD variety then TRs might be okay.

Phat- see above but you might be okay.

fro- no idea I have the world's flattest feet

Also- Scarpa indicates that these are good enough for even the biggest of boards but I admit that today I was a little under booted for my 217 DH skis, not surprising really

While it was only a short tour for me, it would have been a muti-day affair for you In all honesty though, if you have a binder such as the 01, Linken set larger, G3, Rott tour, etc. I don't think you will have one ounce of problem touring in these boots.

The flat sole was not really noticeable for me, but the boots did feel like they "skied from the cuff" a bit. However, the Prof's boots have always skied that way, because there is no differentiation between the top and the bottom now that the walk mode is gone. While at first I was a little sad the new TR did not have a walk lever, I am now in the "no walk lever for tele boot camp."

I stayed with the same size, and while Scarpa did change what they claim for UK sizing on the box (my 27.5's say UK 81/2 on the box, the boot still says 9 on the lower) the fit is the same. The liner is of a touch better quality than the thermo from last season, but still leaves a bit to be desired in terms of height and stiffnes. A spoiler, or actual alpine race (read Lange thermo) liner will go in there no problem though. The booster seems to be a bit of a propietary deal, because it has 4 layers (not the standard double or triple) and only the outside one seems to be even remotely related to a classic booster. Seem to do the job though.
